Paramilitary tinkering question.

#1

Post by saywhat? »

Has anyone added a combo edge to the S30V blade of the paramilitary? I was thinking of sending the knife off to the factory to see if they would do it for me.
I prefer the combo edge vs. the full spydie edge since the combo suits my needs more.

The only potential problem I can think of is losing some blade material when they chisel grind out the serrations.

Any thoughts?

Since nobody chimed in I"ll go ahead and respond. :)

Technically the serrated version of the Paramilitary is actually a "combo edge" because it has about 1" of the tip is still plain edge. I personally wouldn't partial serrations less than what comes from the factory Paramilitary.

I say pony up and buy a serrated Paramilitary (which is really a combo edge) but with 1" of the tip PE.

;)

I don't think Spyderco will reprofile the edge of your knife to a different edge. I think they sharpen it to what the original blade edge is. You can always call Spyderco directly and ask before you send it in. Good luck.
