Do you wear Spyderco while sleeping and How?

I've slept with a etched cricket clipped to my shorts a few times. My main bedside knife is my DODO, which mainly sits on the nightstand. As others have mentioned, I rather grab my XD .45 ACP instead of my knife if anything goes bump if I can't stop the threat with 14 rounds of 230 gr speer GD, then thats why there is a second mag. If that doesn't work, I highly dout a knife would save me. :mad:

Seriously though, I keep a Spydie or two either in the top drawer of my nightstand or under the pillow.

I don't like to keep a knife of any kind in the open on the nightstand. The last thing I need is someone breaking in, and making it all the way up to my room and finding a nice knife right there so they can stab me with it. No thanks.

That thought ran through my mind as well...

I have accidentally fallen asleep on my couch with a Paramilitary (open and locked) and thankfully I didn't cut myself but I did poke a hole in the couch. My wife was pissed. :D

I have also woken up and found myself sleeping on a closed Delica or a Spyderco Salt. :D

Good thing you survived...my common sense tells me not to sleep with a knife...but I so very much like the *idea* of having a Spydie on my person whilst in a slumbering state that I hoped the responses in this thread could convince me otherwise. :eek: :rolleyes: :D

I travel quite a bit, camp out on kayak trips, and have been sleeping with a Spydie in a neck sheath for nearly 20 years when away from home - gray Matriarch since its introduction. Neck sheath allows deployment of the blade on the draw, by incorporating an inertia opening ("Spydie Drop") to the stroke. Super Quick!!!

Ever since my wife (who recently passed away)and I were the victims of a home invasion, my CS voyager is clipped to my shorts and my shotgun is right next to me when Im sleeping. I would have my spydie endura but I havent sent the clip in to be repaired.

I wear boxers to bed, and I clip either a Lava or Cricket to the waistband. I have zero concerns about a knife opening while I'm sleeping since the knife is snug against my skin and I don't move much while I sleep. And I wear a knife in bed due to my love of always wearing one, not for protection.

A neck knife is a good idea, but I always wear a Fenix E01 flashlight around my neck and sometimes a Fenix L0D Q4 also clipped to my waistband.

I'm glad to live in an area where I don't need deadly weapons ,on, or near me when I sleep.I like guns and knives, but don't need them, around, when I sleep.An alert dog ,in the house ,is all I require.I sympasize ,with all you folks, that need heat, when you sleep.It's real hard to sleep if you don't feel safe.

No reason to sleep with it, but my forrester and Rock salt are wedged between my mattress and box spring. That is close enough IMHO.

I leave my jeans besides my bed, and there's always one of my :spyder: in the pockets.

I have a 4D maglite besides my bed, and a Civil War cavalry saber on the wall, for "decorative purposes only" Lol... And my GF only realizes the 4D.. and it's there "only" for power-cutouts etc. :cool:
And if we're going to get a dog again, (a German Shepherd, my previous buddy, GS too, died 4yrs. ago) I bet we're pretty much covered.

Almost all of this is due to my job, I have to be prepared for unwanted visitors.. some of them might find out where I live.

Yes, I had to do a 'reality check' as I read the posts. Many here never bother to lock their doors or their cars for that matter. I too sympathize with all those who must carry weapons to feel safe.

After experiencing a break-in while I was sleeping I decided to keep a weapon close by at night. For years it was a .357 Magnum or a machete but with kids now that is a bit dangerous. For the last few years I've slept with a Native in the pocket of my shorts. It's never accidentally opened...I'm not sure how it could. Now I can tell my wife that I am not the only nut who sleeps with a knife!

It would be way safer to burgler-proof your dwelling than depend on a knife in your pj's or a shotgun in your bedroom suite's headboard. Steel entrance doors and double rigged alarm systems on the windows would work better.

If I lived in Baltimore I'd probably do both but I do not live in Baltimore.

I do not sleep well at night. Anything under my pillow could end up any where near the bed as I toss and turn.

An automated machine gun or multiple shotguns controlled by a custom written PLC program are on my short list of paranoid personal safety measures for my slumber time. PLC's are very versital and cool.

PLC = Programable Logic Controller. Infinatlely versitable and easy to program. Output control would be a bear trying to control lethal force. Load 1...and 2...and not 3 and...etc...out 001. If output 001 was a shotgun this would not be a trivial exercise. I am years out of date but it is the thought that counts.
