Spyderco Frank Centofante Vesuvius (yes/no)
Spyderco Frank Centofante Vesuvius (yes/no)
well i am in the market for my first quality knife that i can carry and rely on. i was considering getting an endura but then cam across the vesuvius. how do these compare. i like it more because of the blue inlay, do these fall out? its about $20 more. i am going to get plain edge and i intend on using it as my ever day carry and possible for defense if the need should arrive. also it says it has a compression lock can someone tell me how it works or post a pic if your have. also how is the strength and reliable compared to a lock back and at times i like flicking a knife open is there any problems doing this with the compression lock? the steel is ats 34 vs. ats 55 on the endura is there any main difference. also is the endura going to come out in the new v-10 steel?

If you want a burgendy Vesuvius, hold on a little longer and the forum model should be out pretty soon.
Is that a <img src="http://spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif"border=0> in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me ?

I just bought a Vesuvius w/ the shell inlay yesterday at my local <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> dealer. Its one sweet knife (and I mean REALLY sweet!).
I like it better then my stainless Endura. The Vesuvius,IMO,has a better steel, is lighter, looks classier (the way that blue shell catches light is amazing), and is made right here in the good 'ole U.S.ofA.

Dude ~ The Vesuvius is an AWES<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>ME knife.. But I won't recommend "flicking" to open it.. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I got ours through Bayou Lafourche Knife Works for $58.49. I usually don't get emotionally attached to a knife unless it's a fixed blade with stag handles and a 440C or AST-34 4" drop blade, or a Stockman with the same handles & carbon blades. I am as emotionally attached to our Vesuvius as any knife in our collection. RKBA!
Couple things. The Vesuvius is the first Spydie that has been truly disappointing to me. But, can understand why others like it so well. Since I much prefer tip up, am concerned to learn it may not stay closed in that position. Thankfully, mine has the ability to choose.
Roger at Bayou LaFourche always has good prices. Right now he has some closeout prices that are pretty good on Spydies as well as some other brands.
