Since 2004 I have a pair of Paramilis (PE/SE, S30V). Even though I`m no longer allowed to carry them in Germany, because since 01/04/2008 they are "evil one hand knives" (before that they were just normal nice folding knives), I will not sell them.

For me the Paramili is still among the very best folders in the world, like e.g. the Lil T or the ATR (ss). I have no complaints concerning ambidexterity. I can manipulate it right or left with ease. It´s an extremely reliable and effective tool with very well thought ergos.

Even if you once in a while got an example with v-play or other issues, it´s really worth it to give the model at least a second chance.

I´m sure, many users who think they could improve it would notice how difficult this would be, if they´d try in real, not only on paper. Nevertheless there are some well known designing artist who eventually could.

Best wishes
JB
We need locking :spyder: folders, at least a D4, with very small :spyder:holes (no one-hand function, only trademark) for legal carry in Germany!

If I could only keep one of all my knives, it probably would be a D4.

Never had a Para. There are other knives I would rather have, and like most knife knuts I never have enough $$$ for all the knives I want. If the re-design comes out with a RH TU option, then I would consider one, but still am not sure about it. I am saving for a Stretch 2 and am much more excited about that knife than I would be about a Para.

I really like the comp. lock, but the smaller size, tip down orientation, and the sharp point on the back side when closed have kept me away from the Para. The E4 has more going for it for me. Put the comp. lock on the E4 and I'll put my G-10 E4 down. (at least long enough to try it out) ;)

Don't have one myself. Handled them, very nice knife alright.....but it didn't seem to be better than either my Endura or Manix.

Looks like the folks who like them, REALLY like them. Guess I'm just kinda' ho-hum about it.

Had one a while back. Traded it for something else. Can't remember why. Just could'nt get attached to it. If I get attached to a knife it stays, If not it goes.

Vivi wrote:How is the lock not ambidextrous? I've seen a few people post that it's not, but I am a right handed person and have no difficulty closing my Para with my left hand. In fact I'll make a video of myself doing this and edit this post once it's uploaded.

Still processing at the moment but here's the link.

Hi Vivi,
I had a bit of a brainfart as I was thinking of the mili's linerlock which is the lock I don't like. I actually like the compression lock. Thanks for the video

I might be in the minority, but I like the handle/blade ratio. I feel that the larger handle gives me a bit more control on the blade, which is especially nice with a pointy tip like the Para.

It would be nice for the "pad' of the compression lock to be larger, it hurts my finger after multiple openings.

The spyderhole also seems like it is the largest of my (small) collection.

When I first got mine I thought it was OK. Then I rounded the exposed tang and did a little work on the scales and I love it, fits my hand better, handle to blade ratio looks improved and can ride in my coin pocket, very happy :D Sorry about the awful photos :o but they give you a bit of an idea.

I tried it in stores but can't get used to the compression lock. maybe it'll grow on me if I buy one but haven't had a chance yet.

I own a lot of Spydies but not a Para.

Primarily, the problem for me is the outsized handle...the blade/handle ratio as others have mentioned. The hinge is set "in" on the handle a far piece. This also means a large amount of the handle sticks out when it's clipped in place. These two elements are probably perfect for some people, but not so good for me.

The Caly, on the other hand, is tops in these areas, so that's what I carry.

the para is the spydie i've kept for longest. i've had and let go several manii, calies 3, and certain delicae 4, but the para stays.

i've been annoyed by some of its shortcomings, but they've only affected my desire to carry it "just because." for edc i prefer something much slimmer and lighter.

HOWEVER, when i set out knowing i'll need to use a knife hard (outdoors, cutting up boxes for recycling, moving, etc), the para is the only spydie i'll reach for.

Wow I'm surprised that so many people don't own one. Not the folks that have owned and then gotten rid of it but I mean just the folks that have never had one. I think it's a staple knife. I'm a tad biased though. :D

I don't have any serrated Para's. I need to get a few of those!!!

I keep eyeballing the para, but I haven't grabbed one yet. To me there are a lot more "interesting" spydies out there, but then again, I'm a little odd in my tastes.
