Chinese Folder and Kahz become blood siblings

#1

Post by Kahz »

So, today I decide to sharpen my Chinese Folder and guess what? While wiping it after sharpening, it decides to cut right through the rag and THROUGH my left index finger. Well, doh! I held wrong anyways and, although I knew it was sharp as sin, I did not imagine it would cut through three layers of textile plus flesh like that. OUCH!!!! So, after tonight, my Chinese Folder and I became blood siblings. <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I have a pending review for this BEAUTIFUL knife but, for now, I can say it's becoming as spoiled as my Mouse. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I LOVE THE FOLDER!

Now I have to heal, this cut was clean, so I am sure it will get better in no time. Long time since a Spydie had bit me this hard!

<img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> is my kind of knife!

Kahz,

I've done exactly the same thing, although when it happened to me I had just oiled the blade and was wiping it clean so I got a nice deep cut filled with oil. This wasn't too bad as it was just my "knife blend" of mineral oil with a dash of clove oil for that nice smell.

Heal quickly, Spyderchum.

I did something like that. I was cleaning an old scout knife when it slipped and cut really deep. That was about 2 years ago.

In the land of knives, <img src="http://www.spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif" border=0> is KING!

I guess I shouldn't be too worried, since Ballistol was intended, among its many other uses, as a medicinal dressing oil.

My worst bite to date was while testing a freshly sharpened Rescue Jr blade. Drew my thumb across the blade at a point and it bit right in. That one healed in about a week unbandaged.

My Calypso Jr. is always the one I'm worried most about, but it's never bitten me, even after I got close to a needle tip back on it. Remember, cuts from a sharp knife heal faster than those from a dull knife. A dull knife will rip and tear more. A sharp knife produces a clean slice that goes back together faster.

For me at least, the day is not official until I bleed at least once.

(I am constantly nicking myself, both while playing with my "toys", and during the course of my work!)

Heal fast, Kahz! I am bloodbrothers with many a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>!

Argh...cuts are never good. I'll have to send ya some SpyderBandaids, Kahz. I am now fully convinced that any <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> product is a tad bloodthirsty. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Must be the weekend for cuts. I was practicing open/closing left hand/right hand, and my Vesuvius bit me. Just a small clean cut, but it wanted to bleed. Everyone be careful, <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> bites are going around. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

**Putting hands on hips and tapping foot**

Gee-whiz, Kahz.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> You should have let ol' Spydernut sharpen your Folder, as I am used to seeing my own blood. LOL!<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Well, I suppose that you are relieved that Jade Green isn't serrated! Ouch! I hope your finger heals with all speed. Take care, SpyderGirl!

Ooooooohhh Kahz! Bummer. I see SpyderNut is back. No wonder. The king of hurt yourself. I should talk. I still see the scar on my left index finger from a scout knife about 50+ years ago. And I still haven't learned. You can hurt yourself without a knife. I have to remember not to use my hand as a hammer.<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Darn, that hurts. Heal soon and well Kahz.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hope your finger heals real fast Kahz.

Coincidentally the only serious'ish cut I have had in several years was when I was sharpening a knife with my 204. Holding the knife in my right hand and reached across my body with my left hand to pick something up on mu right side and felt the slightest of tugs on my left index finger. The finger must have just brushed the blade, but the blood was everywhere.

Is that a <img src="http://spyderco.com/forum/spyder.gif"border=0> in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me ?

Jaxon,

Heh heh! The "King of Hurt Yourself".<img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> I like it! It has a nice ring to it.

BTW, what happend to Kahz? Anyone know? I hope that she didn't encounter a full moon....*Looking for big Spyder*.....that wouldn't be good.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> At any rate, don't feel bad, Kahz, I just had a accident with a DeWalt skil saw, and shaved a piece off the tip of my left ring figer.<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Ouchie! Well, what do you expect from the King of Pain? hehe!

I've had a lot of injuries that weren't knife-related. I've had my finger crushed in a door hinge. That hurts, just trust me on that one. My most recent was a scrape from a sharp plexiglass edge. Looks pretty nasty.

Hey Kahz,

I guess the poor knife was thristy -- it never got any of my blood.

Good to see you two bonding. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

*a giant Spyder approaches*

So, Spydernut, your turn to scold me? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> My finger is doing a lot better guys, thanks. A one day old scar of battle. <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Better be careful next time, oh well... even the best hunter gets killed by the lion, right? <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Carlos, yes, the Folder is a thirsty one, we are bonding quite well, thanks to you! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> *big hug*

See you guys during the week! Have a good and Spydie start!

*the giant Spyder walks away and goes to sleep*

Hi Kahz,

I'm sorry to hear that your Chinese Spyder bit you. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Gee, you really know how to bond with your knives! LOL. <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I hope you have a speedy recovery. Keep it bandaged well to avoid infection. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
