This reminds me of a story about an female NPR interviewer who was shocked learn that the Army would teach Boy Scouts how to shoot and asked the comander in charge if "he wasn't equiping the Scouts to be murderers"? He replied on camera asking "wasn't she equiped to be a prostitute because she was a woman"?

Spyderholic,

Glad you came out of the accident ok.

What do you think caused the accident? Do you think the other vehicle maybe had a big magnet in the trunk? If so, with all those tools the accident was unavoidable...

I am a student nurse and I have worked as a tech in the ER. From what I have seen, ERs are very secure places. The two hospitals that I have worked in have had armed guards and metal detectors, and not just for visitors. We see alot of nut bags in the ER packing things, and whereas I don't see all knives as weapons, I think that she was justified in her response. Anywho, glad to hear that you are back on the forums in good health!!!

I HAD A SIMILAR SITUATION EXCEPT THAT WHAT THE NURSE DISCOVERED WAS MY .45 AUTO. HER REACTION WAS RATHER HUMEROUS & I ENDED UP TURNING IT OVER TO THE SECURITY GUARD UNTIL THEY WERE DONE WITH ME.THE FUN PART WAS THAT THEY MISSED MY S&W .38 IN THE ANKLE HOLSTER AND MY DELICA IN MY POCKET.

Jazzman:Back in the days before 9-11 I saw more artillery & steel in the ER than at many
gun/knife shows & that was just the staff!*G*
At 1 ER I was shown the bullet holes in the wall from a past incident. At another 2 guys who'd been fighting were brought in seperately & placed on strecher with a curtain between the. When the doc started talking to #1 #2 heard & recognised the voice,whipped-out a pistol & fired thru the curtain.*sigh*Ah;the old days of Dodge City*G*.

When I was in the ER earlier this year they saw my fully serrated Endura, said I had to leave it outside. I said Okay and took it outside, put it into the car. They didn't ask me about other weapons like my Glock 30 or my Massad Ayoob, both well hidden.

I've tried to resist... but can't! This topic reminds me of the old vaudville joke...

Female Nurse: "Is that a weapon in your pocket??"
Male Patient: "No.. I'm just glad to see you!!"

Sorry... had to.... :$ ... Gary
