I would say that it depends. Ideally, you paid via paypal, and the seller mailed your knife the following business day, you should get it within the week, probably less.

If you're concerned, I suggest you contact the sell and find out what's going on.

I paid for knife via PayPal the day the auction ended, 1-27-02. Seller says his girlfriend sent the knife to the wrong address and it was returned, and that he mailed it again on 2-6-02. Seller hasn't replied to my last two e-mails requesting an update. Its been 14 days since he says he mailed it the second time. Time to worry? What are my options? Pachucks

Pachuko,

1/27-2/6 is about 2 weeks. You may want to make sure they have your right address. Of course, any time they aren't repyling to your e-mails is a bad sign.

If you don't recieve the knife, you should have some recourse through your credit card company. This is merely my opinion.

Good luck,

Whatever you do, don't pay by personal check. You have to mail it to them, then they hold whetever you bought until it clears, usually for 7 to 10 days, then they mail the package to you. Of all the ways to pay, that takes the longest before you get what you bought.

I usually pay by postal or bank money order if they accept them, so the clear time is eliminated. Paypal or Billpoint are even faster. Once the money gets there and is clear, UPS Ground usually takes from 2 to 6 days. So, all in all, I'd get worried if the package hasn't come by 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after you send the payment.

What I usually do is ask the seller to send me an E-mail when he has recieved the payment, and another with the tracking number when he sends the package. That way, you can keep tabs on the transaction from start to finish with a minimum of hassle.

If he's gotten the payment other than a check, and the package isn't shipped in the next two or three days, there may be a problem with the seller.

My best record was just reciently, I bought a knife from a US auction and within 3 days of the money order arriving I had the knife arrive (UK).

I am not real happy about dealing with PayPal and with individuals since I know some people who got burnt.

I only purchase on eBay from people who have store fronts. I call in the payment and ask for quick delivery (two day shipping).

Seems like you have been waiting far to long for your purchase.

Hope all works out in the end. I would be pretty pissed waiting that long, would have assumed that the seller had the knife and wouldn't misship to the wrong address.

There is no question about my address, he has the right one. What are my options? If it becomes necessary; 1)check with the credit card company, ie. my bank, 2)next would be PayPal, 3)last would be E-Bay, right? I'm not too concerned with the time as I've been waiting to find one of these knives for a while anyway. What concerns me is the lack of a reply to my last 2 e-mails.

I have purchased appx 400 items on ebay. I typically request that I pay by check or money order. I do not mind the wait. You have to be ready to accept a loss. But out of all the transactions i have only been burned once for $45.00. So 99.75% have made it. I can live with that. I have had some US mail take 3 weeks or more. Rico

Pachucks,
You should have the right to dispute any credit card charge. If your card was charged and you never received the merchandise then you can write/call the credit card company and dispute the charge.
They may ask for documentation and <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> as always check you credit card agreement for specific terms. <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Usually you have 60 days past the credit card statement date to start a dispute.
Good Luck

I think ebay insures purchases. They charge like 25.00 to process it and refund you the rest.

Pachuko,

I believe that paypal will be very interested in this. Don't they market their service as a "safe" way to go?

Good luck to you, in any case.

From what I can tell: 1st) Attempt reimbursement from your credit card company. If that doesn't work: 2nd) Attempt reimbursement from PayPal. If that doesn't work: 3rd) Attempt reimbursement from E-Bay. E-bay will charge you $25.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Apologies to the seller if something has happened beyond your control; accident, etc... I would appreciate a response to my e-mail queries, even if its a "Ha,Ha, I really stuck it to you Pachucks." At least I would then have closure, not to mention evidence to send to my bank's fraud dept. Pachucks

Even if you get the money back from your credit card make sure to report the seller to ebay.I would hate to run into him later. Also if he had nothing to hide I would think he would respond to your emails,If you have his address try to get his ph # through information.

The Cool,
You may want to try swords.ca. I've seen him with auctions on E-bay. I purchaed a Q-knife from him and had no problems. I did use a credit card though.
If you have a VISA/MC credit card (most common in the US) you may want to try using that for foreign purchases. I have purchased items from Canada and the Credit card company automatically changes the currency. Example, if you purchase something for $50 USD the you would pay the correct amount in Pounds Sterling (35.30 at todays rate).
Good luck in the never ending pursuit of <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>'s
