Please tell what model custom you have on it's way? Please, please tell me!

There is really no way to describe what model I am getting because it doesnt exist yet... :D I think it will be the prototype of a possible new model. At the moment its just one of the outbreak models in a smaller size. But dont you worry now... I'll post is once it gets here. :D I still have a couple months wait. His backlog is about 15-18 months now. I think I have 4 months left In my wait.

Hey Tricod, I was thinking you don't need any custom folders, you can make a custom yourself anytime ;)

You know, when I saw the ATR, I said the same thing. It took some time to realize that the knife not only it is a brilliant design, but it also pretty nice.
It is true that the first pics did little justice to the poor thing.

As for the Rock Lobster, it is beautifully ugly, if I may say so.

Love Anso's work, but sadly can't afford it. The :spyder: production version obviously doesn't have the same flair as a custom Anso, but I still like it. I'd love to see a smaller version (2"-2.25" blade). That would be my ideal EDC.

Tricod, you're very lucky to get one. I can see you have been waiting a while for your custom. Jens style is very unique and I am a huge fan of the Outbreak models. Take care.

When I see the Rock Lobster, I think folding santoku. That's what I like about it. Not crazy about G-10 in general and even less crazy it in green than in black, but that's small potatoes, if the knife's a total winner for me, scales can always be changed. What kills it for me are the handed lock and lack of a 50/50 choil, no practical workaround for those. :(

I think it looks very interesting, and innovative. It's like a re-imagining of some older blade profiles with cutting edge technology and unique handle design. I don't know if the size will suit me, but I am very interested in hearing first hand impressions of the production version.

I am really glad that Spyderco really commits to custom collaborations, meaning that they build them in great materials, and aren't afraid to go to a middle or higher end price point. I think this produces a product that is as close as you can get to the custom, but still much cheaper, and easier to replace (think Lum chinese folder). Good job :spyder: gang. :)

I like the work of ANSO but always feel that in many of his knives the handles outshines the blade in every respect. I'm not sure if many of you will get my meaning, but it just seems like two different knives with switched out parts.
The handle is big and beefy and the blade is light and airy in a way. Maybe I just need to understand and look at his designs more closely. It really does remind me of the whole YIN and YANG.

I'm the proud owner of a Anso custom, in my case a Gekko folder. Jens is the best, great materials, workmanship and affordable for a custom. I anxiously await to the Rock Lobster collab. I don't know how people can say it's ugly.....it is a Spyderco after all, last I looked a company that makes knives for performance, not looks.
Cheers,
Rob

Hey aj. I know what you mean about the handles. They are outstanding and on a lot of Jens customs they do seem to outshine the blades. The blades for the most part are unique in thier own way too. My only hope is that I can afford the Rocklobster when it does come out.

I'm waiting for it's release too - and being as poor as a pauper I look a lot and buy very little.

Personally, the lines are just gorgeous. It manages to be both blocky and sinuous; it's got a massive blade that doesn't look threatening, and the handle prints as a rectangle but appears to have a secure grip for both push & pull cuts.

ROCK LOBSTER !!!

Reminds me of that B52 song..... everybody !!!! :D

Seriously, I think many here are dying to check this out in person. As mentioned it doesn't fit everyone's idea of a sexy knife. To me, I like it a lot due to its unique design. Possibly on the fugly side, but hey ! Many people say that about Spyderco knives in general. Do I care much ? No, not really because I know they perform well , and I still love Spyderco :D :p

I'm saving up for one....how about you :)
