Nope. They're also a Japanese owned company now.

That's right...in fact, if you go to their page, you will notice a huge SHUN logo.

Kershaw has actually been owned by Kai since 1979. They make knives in the US, Japan as well as Taiwan.

Kai has been a well known Japanese manufactorer since 1908.

The only one I have (the Echo) was made in China.

I think if you have a preferential country of origin you need to check out each knife individually, because they clearly come from all over (like Spydies :) ).

Thanks, problem is I don't have that privilege to check the knives out individually cause I order online... It is because part of my hobby is selling knives, but it's hard... see NKP's here look for something made in US and want it cheap, to my knowledge only kershaw makes knives under $70 made in the US (execption of the Native)... They don't understand that knife companies are outsourcing so that they can supply quality knives cheap...

So like for kershaw knives under $--- are made in china? knives greater than $--- are made in US??

Sorry but I just wanna know so that I would know what to get...

You see this? This... is my knife! The thick bladed razor sharp Strider/Buck 889! Wal-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Post Falls, Idaho. Retails for about $45.95. It's got a TACCOM™ stock, Black Oxide steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop Wal-Mart. You got that? ;)

All the Leeks I think are US made, at least all the ones I have. That may be due to them all being higher end Leeks thoughs (s30v/G-10, ZDP/Ti, Composite/SS, Damascus/SS)

Hmmm...Either you have been hit with the mighty hammer of Thor one too many times or perhaps you have overdosed on that "Army of Darkness" DVD.

I was hoping someone would get it! Yeah, I've seen those movies a few too many times...still, the 889 is a great knife...and although I haven't seen one at wal-mart, the price was right, and still is until stock runs out - the entire strider/buck collaboration has ended.

I honestly don't think they will ever have a "collector's" value though.

Not just the Leeks. If it is a speed safe it is made in the US. Otherwise it will probably be made in Taiwan. There was one model, called the Storm, it was going to be a speed safe but then they decided to leave out the torrsion bar and make it in Taiwan to help keep the price down a bit.

I don't know if Zero Tolerance is made in the US but I think it probably is.

Reading a whole bunch of mis-information on this thread...so just to set the record straight, 80% of the Kershaw line is produced in the USA, at our factory in Oregon. All SpeedSafe knives are USA made. 90% of our sales are knives built at the US factory.

We don't outsource domestically or in China.

The balance of our knives are done up in Japan, and in our facility in China. We don't make knives in Taiwan.

The ZT line is made 100% in the Oregon factory.

Kai USA has owned the Kershaw brand name since 1977.

All the Shun blades are done up in Japan.

If there are any other questions please let me know.
