Caly3 vs. Delica G10

#1

Post by TK »

Hello,

I need a new EDC for the city. Just wanna know what knife is the best choice, Caly3 G10, CF, or the new G10 Delica. Or should I go with the FRN Delica and save some cash? Your advices, please.

Thanks,
Thomas

I voted for G10 Caly3, no particular reason, except I love this knife and consider it almost perfect EDC (perfect doesn't exist).
I carry this knife for a year and a half every day.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Likewise for me on Caly3 G10.
there's just something about the overall ergo's that strikes me and materials used in making this knife, that kicks butt.
This one is hard to beat IMO.

I agree about the Caly 3 G-10. It became my EDC once I got a SE one, now I also have a PE and rotate them each week. They feel and act perfect if there is such a thing

I have all the ones mentioned and I found: Caly3 CF/ZDP > D4G10 > Caly3 VG-10/G10, and I EDC my Caly G10 for a year ;)

This is a tough one in my opinion. I would have said without a doubt the caly 3 G10 until 3 or 4 weeks ago. I got a g10 delica, and I've never been a huge fan of the delica. I considered it a good little knife, but nothing special. The G10 has changed my mind. I've intentionally left it sitting out on the table within easy reach and quick reach since I got it. I think it's fantastic as well. The blade is a super slicer, and I feel like I can get a really good overall grip on it, with my full hand on the scales vs. using the finger choil on the caly 3. Both are great, but the new delica has defintely gained a lot of respect from me. ......and the Foliage green certainly makes it a little more unique.

I don't see how you could go wrong with either

Your opinion is exactly what I have in mind, I cannot change any point from yours, literally

Caly 3 G10

I voted Caly 3 G10. I got this knife when I accidentally gave away my mini Persian. It has since been riding with me almost everywhere but in wet environments whereupon I grab my Salt I.

I have a D4 G10 and a Caly 3 CF incoming. But for now the design, fit and finish of my Caly 3 G10 is (as Roman says) almost perfect.

Awesome grippiness of the G10 handles, combined with the thin and strong FFG blade, solid lockup, finger choil for choking up on the blade for fine cutting tasks. Not sure what more you can demand from a blade except that it go make a cup of coffee for you :D

I love my Caly 3 :p

Wow, that's a tough call. I went for the Caly-3, but only because I think the clip on it is really cool.

I have owned a Caly III G10 fully serrated model. I have also owned many a Delica. I've not owned or handled the G10 Delica but even with the G10 I think I would still go with the Caly III as I actually started liking the wire clip. I also love the blade shape of the Caly III.

It seems as if the tip of the FFG G10 Delica may be really delicate. I wouldn't want that on a knife. Then again I have no problems with my Para Military or Delica III's.

So I guess........I would have to say........ I don't know. :D

I voted for the Delica FRN as its a great EDC that is sturdy enough for some abuse if you have to use it hard. I do love my Caly 3 though, I just wouldn't use it as rough. In terms of ergos and slicing the Caly wins hands down. I thought I was going to pick up a Delica G10, until I saw the price- I can't see spending that much on a Delica when my budget is tight.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

No, that's not the point. I love that knife. But as you already know, it seems that the law for EDCing knives will be changed in Germany. Those knives won't be restricted, you just need good reasons for carrying them. What would be a good reason for carrying a waved Delica, a Military or a serrated Endura downtown? These are my favourite knives and I will carry them when I'm out of town, like hiking, fishing, ... But I think finding a good reason for carrying a small, harmless looking folder, will be much easier and believable.

It boils down to whether you like choils or not. If you like choils, the Caly3 is the clear winner. If you don't, the D4 FFG is.

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder: I voted for the Caly3/g-10, because I don't have the cf model, and prefer g-10 over frn; If I had the fg/g-10 Delica, I would probably choose that one, BUT...I don't have one so......
