well, to use, collect and keep going with your Spydies.. I'm curious to find out what kept others in this forum going and growing..

It's the whole hole thing. The Spyderco is the only one hand opener that doesn't bruise, cut or callous my delicate thumbs!
By the by Samo, how's the leg? I hope you will still get to follow the Roy Chapman Andrews trail through the Gobi Desert.

I admire a keen edge, and consistantly Spydercos are the sharpest straight from the box folders out there.
It is also obvious that Spyderco's are designed primarily as work knives, but at the same time manage to provide about the widest range of styles for a production knife company.
Thier range also covers a wide price range to suit all needs, but at no time is quality sacrificed.
Having Sal and others from the company drop by here and talk about all things knife related, or just shoot the breeze, even if it doesn't relate to Spydercos directly is a real big plus.
Before finding Spydercos and this forum a knife was just another tool I used daily at work. Now with a Spyder clipped to my pocket it seems to mean more, I don't know why, it just does.

Spydies are a high quality tool that exhibits excellent workmanship, honest straight-forward designs, innovative concepts, value... and, of course, the "hole". However, it's the people behind their knives that put Spydies over the top. There are very few companies that achieve a higher quality for their products due to the synergy of their quality people. Sal and the Spyderco crew, just like the founder and employees of Harley Davidson make Harleys the King of Motorcycles, is what makes Spydies the King of Knives.

Trust.
By now Spyderco has proven themselves to me. I know I could by a Spydie sight unseen if I had to, and have no worries. I know that when I buy a Spyderco product, it will be high quality in design, materials and workmanship. I know there will be no negative surprises, and I know that if I do have some type of problem with the product it will be taken care of by the company, without a battle.
I've said this in the past, if Spyderco made cars or refrigerators, they'd be the ones in my driveway or kitchen. The ability to trust a manufacturer is priceless.

I will testify most willingly about the characteristics that have attracted me to the Spyderco company:
It all started when I had to do a 25 minute presentation for my Business class at college. I was trying to figure out what company I would like to do my report on, and I tried a few different companies before I came across Spyderco. [I knew about Spyderco, but I didn't have the 'virus' then.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>] I tried Benchmade and CRK&T, but nobody seemed to have what I was looking for.
I then e-mailed Spyderco and asked them if I could have some information on their company. Joyce made a speedy response to my inquiry, and even sent me a stack of papers in the mail to help me with my report. It was at that moment that I decided that I was going to do my presentation on Spyderco.
To make a story short, I just gave my presentation yesterday in my Business class. My professor as well as all my classmates seemed to be intrigued with the Spydies that I brought. The presentation went very smoothly. I was excited to make that speech, as it was fun. I spoke for about 35 minutes, although we were only supposed to talk for 15 to 20 minutes.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
They had a lot of questions, and I tried my best to give a good answer. I brought my new Blue Lum, and it was a instant hit with the guys. The girls really liked the Pink Cricket, as I guessed. I also brought my CF Dragonfly, *winks at Kahz*<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> and I almost had someone try to take it home! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
I normally don't look forward to making a speech, but that is one presentation I would make time and time again.

Where to begin?? Should I start with the great feel in the hand, how a Spydie begs, with little Spyder-bambi-eyes, to be held and used?
Maybe I'll start with value for the dollar. A Spyder at $50 is better made, in terms of fit and finish, than a Cold Steel for $100.
Perhaps it's reliability. I can pick up any Spyder, anywhere, and know it reaches for the stars in the upper firmament of knifemaking skills.
Maybe, overall, the issue is trust and faith. Trust in the company to build quality knives, for workable prices. Faith in Spyderco's ability to keep on the forefront of knifemaking, be it steels or design. Trust in the company itself to do right by it's customers, every time.
Here's to Spyderco, feeder of my love for blades, proof that there are companies who really care!
