I just ordered my second Spyderco, a Caly Jr., which I hope will make a good EDC for light use. My thinking in choosing this model was: 1. I really like FRN handles because I like light weight knives that disappear in my pocket. 2. Flat ground and ZDP (laminated) blade sounds like a good thing. 3. Relatively smallish size should be good for me. 4. I gather the Caly Jr. is somewhat of a limited production model so maybe it even has some potential to appreciate in value over time (if well cared for and not abused), but that would be just a fringe benefit.

My all time favourite Spydie is the Military in full Spyderedge. However because of the Non Knife People, it might be a tad too big for EDC
The knives I carry instead is a rotation of:
Delica 3/SE (sometimes swapped for a Delica4/SE)
SS Cricket/SE( don't let the size fool you, it's capable of rather heavy cutting chores)
Furthermore the LadybugIII/SE is always on my key ring

My personal EDC choice would be my VG10 Caly 3. That's for work / around town / general use carry.
Back home in the mountains and living out in the country, I'll probably move up to my Para-Millie.
I really like FG PE blades for general use. A minimum of 3" and preferrably 3-1/4" to 3-1/2" suits me best.
I prefer VG10 steel but S30V is a close second.
I like open construction better than a closed frame, but I can easily live with Spydercos front and mid locks.

jmazzi,
Great choice. I have and love both of these knives and I would buy Caly3 first as well. It is almost perfect EDC, probably as good as production knife can be.
You can buy Persian late.
Great to see you back.

I have 47 folders of varying sizes, designes and costs. My favorite is my Delica 4 PE. I carried a Delica first or second generation for 11 year in the USN and it is still a great knife. The 4th gen Delica/Endura are hard to beat.
The VG10 steel is very durable and holds an edge relatively well. The handle of the Delica fits my hand well. Steel liners and a great price. Whats not to like?
