My girlfriends first memory of me is opening a box with a knife I pulled out of my pocket. I did it subtley but she still noticed and asked about it. Now she carries a SE D-fly lightweight and loves it. Knife chics are amazing.
There ain't no rules around here. We're trying to accomplish something.

A couple of days ago I saw her open my Native with one hand to cut open a package, she used to only feel comfortable with an old fashioned two hand opening. Then last week at a local sporting goods store she was eyeing up an etched Dragonfly! I already know one thing thats going into her stocking next Christmas. :)
Shawn,
you must have an incredibly attractive wife :D
I have this nervous tic of flipping my knife open and shut when nervous, well I once did it on a date  yeah I think I scared her away lol. I guess I can be intimidating ;) I do wear Green CAD pants and a military shirt all the time  it's like a uniform. So when I pull that knife out, I think it was my buck alpha hunter. Really big scary folding knife I really freaked her out.
Now why can't women understand us guys like our tools  :p
I'd rather leave home without my pants than without my knife!

When I was dating my wife; a conversation came up about 'people with guns are .....(lowlife.....yadda....yadda...) you know!!!
...Well I farmed a BIG farm and had a .22, 30'06 and a shotgun behind the seat of my pickup at ALL times...And a .45 in the glove box....
Well, next time we went out - before she got in - I tipped the seat forward (!!!)
...Wasn't long before she was shooting and taking me to gunshows and gunshops....
...Now she has her CWP!!!!
Ya gotta LOVE a woman like that!
...Now, to get her "into" Spydies!!!!
:D
P.S. ..Next aniversary will be #25.

cool...both of my parents, growing up on opposite sides of the world (Europe and USA) were both assigned to behead the chicken with a knife so their Moms could cook it! :D

It sounds like you got your strength and independance from both sides, not just one. It was kind of similar with my family. I come from good, strong peasant stock on both sides. :) Joe

It's interesting the things you learn about life...when one parent fought in WWII and the other lived through it (with bombings overhead and such)... :)

My wife has been neutral to knives for a long time. That stopped when she met the wonderful women of Spyderco. Joyce definitely has knack for choosing knives for her. The cool thing is that my wife kinda keeps track of my 'grails' and is somehow able to get them for me for special occasions, like a forum Millie, SFSW Kiwi, Blue Lum etc...

Her current EDC is the pink D4, but she also likes her almite Navigator, Police Tieclipit and Ti Salsa.

Her first knife was a SAK and after that came a Meerkat.
Now the Meerkat has went to my brother in law.
He's not a knife afi at all but lately he lost track of it for a few days and really missed it.

PS. my daughter loves to flip her balisong when she's at home.
She was pretty mad when she heared about the upcoming ban on bali's overhere.
Man Piet, I wish my EX would come to her senses. She won't even let my son carry a Ladybug(his favourites are my CF Police and CF Delica/SE ;) )

Well, a little while ago a bought a pink Delica for my girlfriend's 14 year old daughter.

She doesn't actually carry it, but she used it last time when she was covering her school books

The knife has a special place in her room(so is the box  :) )

It's taken some time, but my girlfriend is getting more comfortable with knives. She used to open a knife to open mail and then hand it to me to close it. Now she knows how the basic locks work and closes them herself.

She used to use a Gerber LST Microlight at work to open boxes, etc. This Christmas I got her a Blade Tech Mouse Lite. At first she said it was too big and she didn't think she could carry it. I asked her to give it a try. I have seen it clipped to the pocket if her work pants many times now and if she loses track of it she always seems concerned. She also loves her pink Victorinox classic.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Since I'm a 14 year old girl who carries 2 knives at a time, I get ragged on alot by guys saying " girls shouldn't have knives"...and others think its totally cool.. but in my opinion, being a girl, its all the more reason to carry one! (specially my pink delica ;) )

I only have a Kumo, Pink Delica, Centofante III, and the Native..but I'm working my way up :D

My girl carries a subclaw in her purse. She has a Boker speedlock 2 with cocobolo. I'll replace that one for her with a legal correct one concidering the upcoming auto/bali ban.
She eyeballed the etched dragonfly :D . Well although i'm not to fond of ss handles i make an exception on this little gem.
I like it too. :p

When I first wanted the Kumo, based on the picture, I didn't think that I would like it...
but it is SO much more awesome in person. :D

I strongly recommend it, but it all depends on personal opinion.
