Walker model

#1

Post by dimster »

This is my first post so I hope this topic hasn't been brought up a zillion times.

I own (among about 20 other spydies) a Walker with carbon scales and titanium liner bearing number 1645 and the reference Swiss made.

My question was :was this a model that was distributed in large numbers or was it not even distributed outside Europe (swiss made logo). It still is the most expensive Spydie I ever bought and I am reluctant to really work it.

Thx for your info

Dear Dimster, welcome. I know these CF Walkers were distributed pretty widely here in USA too, but they're hard to find now. I have 2, one PE and one 50/50. Best made spydies I've seen (not bad on the eyes, either). I also have a question. One of mine has a shiny CF surface, slick, like most cf you see, while the other has a great satin surface, not slick at all. I wonder if these were just different production runs, or if someone knows how to produce this surface on cf?

Dear Shrinkydave : mine has the shiny cf panels too,but as it was a special order in my country I honestly can't say I ever saw a second one in the flesh.
I still have the old Spyder catalogues though and they also pictured the shiny ones

I had a plain edge Walker CF with a serial number in the 1600's. It has the glassy surface carbon fiber scales.
