I made another post here in support of the santuko but the post failed. ???

I sill like the 9.5 inch chef's but it requires a huge cutting board or it will try to cut you when you (me!) try and choke up to compensate for the short board.

The eight inch Spyder edge slicer rules all other knives for crusty artisan breads. Crusty breads you HAVE met your match.
Not really all that slick ;)

Oh, I'm glad you asked... working in a kitchen all day, you just knowI'm gonna try out my Spydies! ( Yes, I wash them thoroughly first! ) So far, at the top of the list is the large Wegner - second, Endura 3 - third, a tie between the Caly 3's and Delica 3 ( wait 'til the flat grind Delica comes my way ). Oh yes, the Centofante 3 is also quite swell. I know you'd think the Wegner would be "not so swell" with the thick blade and hollow grind, but you'd most definately be wrong. Also, a little length goes a long way with most food prep. Seriously, I love that Wegner! It's also a terrific all around blade shape. I haven't really tried out my Ocelot yet, but I know it'll be awseome.

- best wishes, Jazz.

I don't have any really good kitchen knives yet.......but if I had to use a folder I would use a SE Military.

Heck just today I used my SS Dragonfly SE to cut a bagel in half. I just had to go around it instead of through it. :)

for food prep, my Spydie Santoku is the best kitchen knife i have ever used.

for cutting up my actual meal on a plate, the only spidies i have used are my ats55 police, and my yellow pacific salt

my normal EDC is now a Sak of some variety, and they has been used as a "steak knife" a few times now

My favorite Spydie in the kitchen is still the Homemaker. For use at the dinner table, the Stretch II would be my favorite. It slices like the best and doesn't look too much out of place between the usual tableware.

I'll usually reach for the Military. Nice long blade with a good amount of belly makes it perfect for food prep and eating.

Ditto. The nice flat spine makes it easy to scrape the cutting board.

Ditto! :D That little bit of guard will get in the way for some things, but it still should make a nice little utility knife. Of course, that's not all I'll be doing with it. I do want to put it through it's paces to see what it's capable of and give Spyderco some useful feedback. ;)

!!! That is actually a good idea. I read somewhere that the #1 cause of emergency room vists from kitchen accidents was people cutting themselves as they held their bagels. Cutting around the bagel with a *sharp* knife might have prevented those injuries.
