I have a new project for Mr. Krein if he chooses to accept it.

It is turning this...

I swear we are on the same wavelength here. I'm planing to go to the Spyderco 2nds sale on Saturday, pick myself up a criket and regrind it just like that. So do I dig it... Yes I do. So hey if you feel like waiting I can let you know after I grind mine. :)

Thats so strange I was just telling a good friend of mine about that the other day.

Do you think it would work on a Kopa?

WE are speaking the same language! It would look incredible on the Kopa! The only thing I would worry about with the Kopa is the initial blade shape. It is a leaf blade so if you ground it like a hawkbill the tip would be curve as much as a regular one. It would look great on Kopa handles but if you couldn't get a different blade then the blade might look a little funky, almost like it was rocked back too much, but that's basically the case with the Cricket also! Great idea!

Strange, yes.

Odd, yes.

Almost disturbing, yes.

But in some way, so... right! :D

I think the Cricket for sure will be cool. I havent decided yet on the Kopa. I hope to pick one up either way. I may or may not turn it into the hawkbill. It sure does look strange though cause of the angle of the blade.

Indeed, but if I was going to get a custom knife from Spyderco I'm pretty sure I would get a Cricket with a hawkbill. The blade it has now doesn't quite give it the right effect when it's reground but if it had a more intense blade that came as a hawkbill it would be incredible! Whenever I get around to buying another Cricket I'll see what Mr. Krein has to say and if he would take on the task :)

I like the idea, LOOKABIRD...only thing I'd change is, it's crying out for a different handle to better compliment the blade curvature, IMO...but cool! :D

On a related note, you might also be interested in the new Boker Subclaw, which is a mini hawkbill.

But... but... it's not *twitch* a Spyderco.

Must *twitch* only buy *twitch* Spyderco.

Can't buy... Boker. It makes my Spydies *twitch* angry.

:p

I like that "Hawkbug" idea! Just add some jimping on the spine and choil and that lil sucker is ready to handle anything. I'd very interested in one of those.

since you brought up new things for Mr Krien to do i was thinking of a full flat grind on the aqua salts when they come out... that thing would be a great slicer in the kithcen.
