Another Spydie Bound for Iraq

#1

Post by The CoPilot »

A close friend of mine who is in the U.S. Navy "Seabees" just found out that he is being deployed to Iraq for 9-10 months to assist with maintaining Marine Corps bases around the country. I decided that I wanted to give him a Spyderco to take along just as a way of saying “thanks for serving”. And seeing how the Operation Iraqi Freedom Natives are awfully hard to come by, I ordered a C41PSBK (partially serrated, black-FRN Native) to accompany him on his tour. I’m hoping that he will be able to put it to good use and I’m curious to see what it looks like when he gets back. I know that it will serve him well!

May your friend use it in good health, and return home safely.

Yep, thanks for the reminder. I had three Spydies sitting around here waiting to ship out to military folks (one Persian and two SS Delicas) and your post motivated me to get off my duff and ship 'em.

Native's got the right idea. Adopt yourself a soldier or two and knife 'em.

They especially need our support as the general population follows the new congress' lead -- and the media's lead -- having turned against the idea of victory. I was recently at a conference where I heard a credentialed speaker openly advocating defeat, with warriors in the room. It's just amazing, and I never thought I'd live to see a specticle like this. Imagine what it's like for the soldiers.

Giving a Spyderco to a soldier seems like a worthy gesture when they are being put in harm's way-- especially since they will be over there for the indefinite future as the idea of withdrawl has somehow become inseparably linked with defeat.

I was able to present my friend with his Spyderco Native today and he was thrilled! He said it will definitely be something that he will use during his tour and was very honored to receive it.

Got an update from my buddy in the Seabees who is serving over in Iraq. He said that the Spyderco Native (C41PSBK) that I gave him is seeing lots of use over there and is performing well. It's nice to know that there are many Spydies currently serving their country both here and abroad!

My buddy, just won the raffle for the OIF Native. He didn't know what a Spyderco was until I showed hime 2 weeks before he deployed. Now he is hooked. He loves the OIF Native like it were his child :D ! This really is a great company for offering such a program. Thanks for doing your part CoPilot!
