Congrats, guys!
Looking back, it took me about six years of intense study to attain my first-degree black belt so many years ago.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work. Don't fall victim to the Brown Belt Blues. I don't know how many individuals I've seen get there Brown Belt then fall by the wayside and not continue to do the work to get their Black Belt.

I've wonder why this happens (seen it happen in a few schools where I have trained and taught) but it seems a significant percentage of Brown Belts quit before reaching Black Belt. It doesn't make sense to me but it happens.

I don't know the progression of your system but in working with three Brown Belts tonight a big part of getting them to Black Belt level requires fine tuning and getting the "fat" out of techniques they already know. Maybe it's the repetition and criticing to refine the technique that becomes discouraging. Personally I try to be careful not to over correct and pound on a particular issue, especially in one training session.

Anyway, stick with it. You'll look back on the day your instructor wraps that Black Belt around your waist as one of the highlights of your life and a great day of celebrating your accomplishment.

Nice job Copilot, keep up the good work. The Brown belt blues are real...after training hard for a long time and achieving my third brown in Shotokan Karate,I tested for and failed my black. After suffering a broken bone in my foot,my training waned,I lost intertest and I never went back. It's something I'll always regret,I know you won't make the same mistake.

Congratulations again,you should be proud.
