Etched Cricket

#1

Post by BOK »

Went a little nuts at the knife store today. Bought a black blade Military, Salt and an etched Cricket.

Gotta say that of the three I'm most chuffed with the Cricket. The etching makes it look like a totally differnt knife than the regular version. Solid little knife. Blade shape is perfect for the majority of my cutting these days too. I'm usually zipping through the plastic that covers cd, DVD's or 8mm tapes.

Really pleased with this one.

Nice pics. I already have a PE cricket, and I really want an etched SE cricket... I just hope that the etched Cricket sell well enough to get a run of SE etched Crickets!

(I'd hate to have to buy a SE Cricket and a PE Etched just so I can get my Etched SE...)

After having a little play time with this one I would definitely be in for an etched SE version. Looks better, feels better and it seems like the finish might be more durable (cosmetics-wise) in the long run.

Congrats on your new fine knives. Enjoy them and thanks for the pics.

Pssst... It's a Salt, not a military... ;) But I agree, the yellow FRN is sweet.

The Salt needs to be exchanged. The lock doesn't line up flush with the spine of the knife.

I actually went in there looking for the green military but the guy didn't have them, so I bought the black blade to join my CF BG 42.

The green one will be next :)

Hi, everyone,

Is a non-flush back lock an exchangeable defect? I have two back lock Spydercos, a C41 Native SE and a CF Harpy SE. Neither of their locks are flush with the spine of the blade or the scales. The Native's lock goes low between the scales and the Harpy's lock sticks up above the scales. Thanks,

All except three of my Spyderco lockbacks line up flush or somewhere very close to it. Both my FRN Natives in the open position tends to be slightly low.

The Salt is not even close to being flush though so I'm going to examine a few others at the store and then see about that exchange.

Quick simple answer, no - unless it affects the lock-up of the knife adversely which would be very unusual. It's a fairly common condition on the FRN front lock models, somewhat less so, but not by any means rare on front locks with other types of handles.
