Don't give up, once you get the hang of it they are really quite simple.

Start out with a simple three turn fist and make sure your using something similiar to paracord. You don't want something too thin.

Question to the lanyard makers out there

#1203

Post by Bluntrauma »

I have looked with not much success for a company that sells paracord by the foot or in small increments. Does anyone know of a place that you can pick it up without buying it in 50 to 100 foot amounts? Thanks

I think I remember seeing it somewhere where you can buy 3 or 5 foot lengths but I didn't see any point. Price is minimal for 100 foot quantities.

What are you actually looking for?

I just wanted to play around and try to make a few lanyards. I didn't figure I would need 100 feet to fool around with. I did buy 100 of black from County Comm though.

Are you trying to imply that it is as addictive as knife collecting?

No, actually it is much worse. :D

Even when I am in a retail store that sells by the foot, I usually buy 100 to 200 feet at a time. But then, my hatband used up a little over 30' in one shot. ;)

The lanyard in my last post (of a project) used approx 50' of coyote tan and a couple feet of od green. So the cord can go pretty quick.

Wow!!! and I mean Wow!!! These lanyards you guys tie never cease to amaze me...I know I started this thread and can't tie a knot to save my life....that being said the lanyards shown are very inspirational and I see a lot of new people trying their hand (pun intended) at it. I'm glad that this thread has blossomed into something more than just the original question I posted, maybe someday even I'll give it a try....Doc :D

Thanks Dr. Snubnose for starting all this. Here is one I just made that has a nice rust color with a dark pony bead. Core is a round piece of flint so you can use it as a kubaton or a survival fire starter.

GITD Paracord Pulls

#1213

Post by OuchThatsSharp »

I've seen a few lanyards with this Glow In The Dark (GITD) cord closure/pull. Is there a purveyor of this particular item in the U.S.?

If I am not mistaken I think you might be referring to these.

eschmunk, yes that is exactly what I'm looking for. I've searched but cannot find a U.S. reseller. I did see someone had some for sale on a web/blog site but cannot find it now.

Since attachments seem to be working again...

You may as well have a look at a nice little fob I made for a CRKT Dogfish.
