Spyderco Samaritan and Amsterdam

#1

Post by v34 »

I hopefully will get hold of one of these from The Old Man in Amsterdam. The shop has said that as long as the blade is sub 9cms it will be OK for them to stock. 2 questions-is there a release date and is the blade less than 9cm?
I am presuming that Spyderco is considering sending these abroad to countries where lawful sale is allowed.
TIA

Yes, Sal stated that of both the automatic and double action models, two bladelengths will be made; the Dutch and German markets get the shorter ones. :D

As Wouter mentioned,

There will be an 83mm version of both and the Samaraitan (Vallotin / Diskin design) and the Citadel.

Probably the fall for the 83mm Citadel and early next year for the 83mm Samaritan.

We are planning export of the models.

There is also an 80mm "not named yet" model that Eric designed.

No Standard lengths. We'll make a range of sizes for the US market. We'll be selling only to Military, law enforcement, etc. channels and there are no length limits for professionals.

I guess, as usual, we'll make what our customers want.

Different countries like Netherlands and Germany permit autos for all, but with blade size requirements (length and width).

In Germany, 85 mm, maximum bladelength.
In the Netherlands, 90 mm maximum bladelength with a minimum width of 14 mm.
A blade narrower then 14 mm has a maximum length of 70 mm.

I guess someone was scared of Italian style stilletto's.

Maybe I'll get me an auto, just because I can legally.
Any chance for a Spyderco OTF sir?

Why, oh why. It could've been 85mm instead of 83mm. You're wasting 2milimeters! :( ;) :D
