Byrd Knives...Your kidding right?

OK, nothing negative at all, LOL. I just received my G10 Cara Cara today in the mail. I don't know how this knife can be sold for such a low price. Picking it up, handling it, working the lock, working the action, checking alignment on the scales, and everything else, just shows the quality of this knife. Even the heft of it, everything just says quality. If I didn't know about these knives, and someone handed it to me to get my opinion and a guesstimate on price, I would have said, "probably around 50.00". The China on the blade is small enough to not draw attention. I am just blown away that I picked this one up for well under 30.00 shipped. I've paid much more for knives that were not up to this quality.
I've held off from buying in Byrd knives because of their low cost, and figuring I would be getting what I was paying for. Hearing Sal's remarks about them in a previous post pushed me to buying one, and boy am I glad I did.
It also won't be a Heart breaker, if I would so happen to loose it either, but if I did, I'd definitely replace it with another.

I think I'll probably buy every model in the line now just because of their quality. This one fits my hand so well, and it feels good when folded in my pocket, actually better then my D'allara, that I think it may be my Daily carry for awhile.
Thanks Sal......this is truly a Great knife, and IMO, would still be so even if it were priced in the 50.00 range.
Regards Sonny

I completely agree. I've got the G10 Cara Cara and Meadowlark, and they're fantastic knives. I'm eagerly awaiting the new Catbyrd, looks great!

I agree 100%. I just received a FRN Meadowlark from my brother as a groomsmen gift for being in his wedding. Having owned and used Spyderco knives for many years, I knew the Byrd line would be decent, but I never would have imagined the quality I encountered on the Meadowlark in terms of materials, fit, finish, and feel. Absolutely unbelievable for the price and way above and beyond my expectations!

Yeah Sonny, you're not alone with your initial reaction Re: byrd knives ....
the quality far outweighs the price IMHO..... ;)

I'll have to chime in and say that I too agree. I bought a Byrd Robin, fully expecting something noticably inferior to the Dragonfly I had purchased a few days before -- and was I surprised. I can't tell any difference in quality and workmanship. I, too, will buying more Byrds.

my reaction was similar when my Crossbill PE arrived...heavy duty, bigger than I expected, a real worker of a knife. I couldn't believe the price was so low for what I got!! :spyder:

I've had at least half a dozen Byrds go through my hands and kept one for myself. On each and every knife I was impressed with how great they felt, despite being inexpensive. Thanks to the Byrd line, two of my friends are now knife lovers.

My entry into the Spyderco line was the FRN Cara Cara. I didn't have enough money to get a Delica, but desperately needed something to replace my old knife; so the Cara Cara it was. Boy does that thing rock! When I first took it out of the box, it almost looked like one of those cheap POS folders that you get for $5, but it performs better than anything I've ever had!
Back from an extended hiatus.
