That, I feel, defeats the purpose of a thread like this. YOU are the one who is supposed to decide -- for you -- which of those matter enough to you to put one knife ahead of the others. Right?

I came very close to naming the Gunting as my selection. The only reasons I chose the Para Military above it are that it rides a bit too high in the pocket (unmodified, that is), and it's a bit bulky in the pocket. Apart from that, it's a superbly made knife -- a veritable tank.

Without a doubt...the Military. The C36 was considered Spyderco's "flagship" model for years and was considered a "must-have" for any true Spyder-fanantic as it incorporated everything "good" about Spyderco and their designs. Somewhere just behind that would fall the Delica and then the Native.

Another vote for the Lil Temp! Any variation but I prefer PE S30V.

For me it's the

Endura 4 FRN SE

For the price it's the best knife value by any company in the knife business.

The Civilian/Matriarch is my pick.

In the gravest extreme, I would prefer no other blade type in my hand.

Tough choice but I'm inclined to go with the Lil' T. PE s30v and a close second would be the new caly 3, CF zdp189.

It is indeed a tough choice. For my uses, I would have to pick the CalyIII as the best Spydie ever made.

However, it's closely followed by the venerable Lil Temp (S30V leaf) & Dodo.

Difficult to decide. For me it would be either the Delica or the Police... Hmmm, I think I'll stick to the SS SE Police for now...

Gunting
I have to agree on this one. The Gunting is the most indestructible, over-engineered, robust blade I have ever encountered, period. If I could have only one Spyderco as a go-everywhere, do-everything blade, the Gunting would be it.

I just wish that when I was buying my Gunting, I had already made the change from preferring combo blades to preferring plain blades, because my Gunting cost me $125 and it's a combo edge. I'd rather have a plain. But yes, it is overengineered and magnificently sturdy.

P.S. What's Hannibal Lecter doing, saying he'd prefer a Gunting over, say . . . a Harpy?

okay...has to be serrated, heavy duty, a well thought-out design...so there is no one knife that I know of that fits the bill, unless a serrated Yo was made. :D

:spyder: :spyder: :D I'll nominate the Civilian! :D :spyder: :spyder:
