CPM-D2 Military

#1

Post by sal »

I should probably mention that we hve a run going of Military models, Foliage green G-10 with CPM-D2 blades. (sorry for the sales pitch )

It's an experimental steel made by Crucible which maintains the D2 chemistry, but it is made in a particle metallurgy format.

I've been carrying one for a month or so with very nice results. they should be out in a few months, same price as the regular S30V Millie.

sal, sounds interesting. Nice to see some colored G10 back too. I wonder if there is enough G10 in the mili to retro fit to the paramilitary

Don't let Kristi catch you trying to sell knives in these here forums, you KNOW how that makes her get! I KID!

On a serious note, what is D2 steel similar to as far as performance of current Spyderco Steels?
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.

Just the G-10 color would make this a more interesting toy than usual - I have not tried the Military yet and this might be the thing to make it happen!

If it is identical to D2 steel in composition it should be practically indestructible.

Same price? THAT is the most surprising to me. I can hardly wait!

Are they out yet? Are they out yet? Are they out yet? :D

I sure am glad I'll have my transmission paid off in a couple of months, since it looks like those payments will be going to Sal instead ;)

Thanks for informing us forum members, Sal! Don't have a foliage green Spydie as I prefer plain edge, this will be my first one - if it's with plain edge. Will it have plain edge

The price on this one is excellent for a new steel sprint run. For that reason alone I would buy one. I already have a few D2 knives around here but I'd like to see how much different the CPM varieity is. It should be a winner especially if Sal has approved it to go into one of his flagship and most popular models. I can't wait.

I had a feeling this was the steel being guessed at by some of us herehttp://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.p ... 064&page=3

Will it have the new stop lock? I'm looking forward to a Military with an ambidextrous lock.

I love D2 steel, hopefully the cpm variant will be less chip proof. Sal I hope the blade will be a coated Black? I really hope so, if it is some of my dreams will be coming true.

Cool variation to the Military.

I would love to carry a Mili but it's just too large for me. Not as much as that it is too large and I'm afraid I will get in trouble......but more that the handle is just way too big for me and I don't need a blade that long. :)

Can't wait for the next Paramilitary.

D2 is semi stainless anyhow and the cpm seems to help with hardness crosition and toughness so it should be a real winner

Looking forward to it, Sal. Itake it you will let us know the release date??

Thanks for all the new toys and tools. Bigk6
