Hey Yog,

At least he did not have to face the rabbit...

ROFLMAO!!!

Excellent post, IanMUndertall!! Now I know where your name comes from!

Well, the only story I have is not as glamorous as IanMUndertall's!

I number of years ago, I purchased my first Spyderco. It was the plain edged Delica, FRN. I was very excited about it since I had heard so much about Spyderco knives.

As soon as I got home, I pulled it out to show my fiance and her brother. My fiance, now my wife, said "gee, that's nice." And walked away. My brother-in-law wanted to handle it since he too had heard so much about Spyderco but had not handled one before. So, we sat down at the dinner table to compare knives.

As men, we are a proud bunch. He decided to "test" the sharpness of the blade by lightly scraping it across his arm to see if it cut off any hair. Now, knives right out of the box tend to be fairly sharp. He had just purchased a Gerber and was gloating about how sharp it was from the factory. He showed me the small patch of hair he was missing from his other arm. So, he took the blade and drew it across his arm very quickly. He left a clean shaven strip about 8" long!

He was so shocked at the sharpness of the Delica right out of the box! So anyway, on with the cutting part, I was laughing hysterically at his new look. He handed it back to me, still open. I cleaned off the blade on my jeans, (still sitting) and wanted to show him the integrated FRN clip on the tail end. WELL, wouldn't you know it, I went to pivot the blade around to show him the butt of the Delica, and it slipped out of my hand. It dropped straight down, into my lap, and landed tip first into the middle of my left thigh, right through my jeans, about 3/4" deep. I had been stabbed by my own knife, because of my own negligence...

Needless to say, we both stopped and stared for awhile. Funny how a knife injury doesn't hurt right away. In fact, it didn't start hurting until I pulled it out and started to bleed...Profusely. Just then, my wife comes walking in and sees all this blood on the floor. Boy, I had a lot of explaining to do that day...

There was one thing I was really happy about. I am glad I didn't purchase the stainless steel Delica. Lord knows if I had dropped the all steel Delica into my thigh, I'd probably be hobbling to this day!

Oh well, you live and learn. Sometimes the hard way.

Lsaulog- Hobbling from an SS Delica, no. Still nailed to the chair, quite possibly.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

i got a little cut from the tip of my harpy but the worst cut i got, form pure stupidity, was from a vitorinox laying under an stack envelopes i was busy opening. i got distracted and put my hand down to grab the knife and jammed the blade into the center of my thumb, very very sore for about a week.

The worst cut I've ever had was when I was camping with some friends. I whipped out my Rescue Spydie & thought I'd try to impress my friends by cutting a rope that tied down our sleeping bags in the back of my friends pickup. I cut it vigorously because it was like 1/2 inch thick and didn't realize I almost sliced my left index finger off....I quickly wrapped it with a clean sock, & nursed it for the next couple of weeks. OUCH!! Never mess with or underestimate the sharpness of your Spydie....Lesson learned...

Nice topic Kurt... Hmmmm... I'd have to say my worst cut ever was from a peice of paper in pre-school, right between my index and middle finger. So the clot would rip back open every time I moved my fingers even the slightest bit, so I had to end up taping my fingers together for a while.

oh... was this supposedto be about knives?

Speaking about booze, I sliced my left thumb with a Benchmade Pinnacle.. After two bottles of Red and a bottle of White that is.. The cut was so deep and clean, I didn't even noticed it.. Man, those folks at BM surely had good QC on their new line-up!

I was practicing a inertia open with my Endura serrated and the knife slipped from my hand, went a foot above my hand then landed on my thumb, point down. The bone stopped it but didn’t stop it from cutting the tendon in two. I’m still recovering, the main problem is hyper-extended the thumb and will not know how well it will be for another four months. In any event once the splint was off I was back practicing once again.
