well, me and my brother were doing a little brain storming, and then it hit us... the perfect spydie!!! oh boy oh boy oh boy....

listen up and listen good, spyder nuts! the forum dork is about to unleash!!!

blade style: spear point, think zowada, only sexier.

blade steel: ATS 55, VG-10, you want it, you get it.

handle: G-10, with titanium liner, shaped like the Shabaria, only not quite so drastic.

length unfolded: 10 inches, (no more pussy footin' with 8 n' 11/16.)

Full-length locking system with David Boyde style lock

(optional handle of burgandy micarta, cheaper version of frn.)

Edge: 50/50 or plain, hollow ground (like moms coffee)w/ real significant top swedge

and to top it off, how about a triple screwed clip also of titanium, attached to the liner, and ball bearing encased action for smooth, silent opening?

look at me and wonder, and so I awnser, "yes, I am ugly, but so are you, and I carry knives!!"

wiley, with big hope. Maybe we call spyderco and custom order, eh?

OMG!

Too good to be true... I think it was just a dream...

*drool*

To think I carried a machete in my car and never thought about this for a Spydie.

Can I have mine with a CPM-440V blade ? Really begining to appreciate this steel.

Also don't forget the silver Spyder plug inset in the hadle. And a compression lock might be nice.

What's the handle on the Shabaria like ? The handle doesn't look that comfortable (open or closed), but I have learn't not to judge the feal of a knife just based on a picture.

personally... Id settle for spyderco to 'perfect' the Cold Steel El Hombre... say with SS, ultra thin handle but of same type of geometry (ok,ok... a G10 for those of you that like that stuff), the spider hole replacing the sharp and not so efficent thumb stud, and Id perfer a plain edge, however the Spyderedge is still superior to (in my opnion !!) the needle sharp (and likewise fragle) serations on the cold steel knives.
Yeppers... just imagine... take your Police model and replce the blade with a recurve/bowie style and reshape the handle a little to represent (not imitate..)the El Hombre and you have my "Dream Spyde"

the handle on the shabaria...you're right about that. Not too comfortable-looking. But another thing you were right about is that appearances are decieving. Don't own a Shabaria myself, but i have gotten to test one out- their handles are actually quite nice. They really let you have a deep grip on them too, the kind of grip where you could use the knife in a stabbing posistion against kevlar and not lose your grip, then turn around an' chop down a tree with just as much comfort.
This dream knife wouldn't have such a drastic gouge as the Shabaria though, just enough to get a nice, tough grasp on it. We wouldn't want to weaken the thing too much- titanium and G-10 aren't indestructable you know.
