hello faca, here is the explanation.
on picture 1. that's how i grip the knife
on picture 2. while flicking the wrist down i use my forefinger to open the blade just a little bit (about 45 degrees)
on picture 3. i just continue to flick the wrist down and the blade opens. :D
General as fare as knife wearing out... i had this knife for about 5yrs and have been opening it in similar ways ever since and the blade is still rock solid when it's unfolded :D

is that how you open it or differently ?
and then i started practicing to open the blade with my forefinger..

This thread really got me thinking about different ways to open spydercos. I have inertia-opened some liner-lock CRKTs in the past, but never a spyderco or a lockback. So after reading this thread and getting motivated I successfully inertia-opened a few of my spydercos, and flicked open a few as well. I had never tried flicking open a knife before, and I was pleased to find it a great way to open a spyderco.

I've been seeing a lot of videos of Spyderco's and other knives on YouTube. I really like it. I watch 'em all the time. It is really a cool thing for those of us who cannot often hold a knife in person at a local shop.

Actually, that's pretty much it. I have made a video, and I'll post it here soon.mr.vandalay wrote:thanks , first i saw this video... very fast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7SAXhSqLUM&NR=1

I don't know if this is a "How fast can you open?" thread, but more of a "How do you use that nifty spydie hole?"Stevie Ray wrote:Wow .. a new guy that wants to see how quick folks can deploy a standard Spydie. No disrespect intended here vandalay, but given the Bali issue, what's up with this thread?
The great thing about a circular hole is the multiple ways it can be used.
Speaking of that, here's my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4yOzl9r9ys
