If I were to start an official collection, it would have to be the the Rescues (dig all those colors), the Paramdeics, Mariners, all the Sheepsfoot, and the Wharncliffes blades too. Seems like there is enough of them just to make collecting a challenge.

I've got a long way to go, if I were to start collecting for real.

I'm always looking for a spydie to carry, use and admire at the same time. All my knives are carried, except the WTC and forum knives. I'm always looking for the best spydie for a particular task, like for the office, gent's knives, tactical. With the evolution that all models go through, there's always a new model that's a little better suited to a particular task.

For the rest, I like colored handles, leaf blades and exclusive looking models.

I love to collect users, blades that I think would be great to cut stuff with. Granted I gravitate towards the more unique blade shapes, but I have been known to buy a couple delicas and enduras (and ladybugs).

If the captain ever comes out with a SE curve, I would definately get it. Also, if it had a fun color of G-10, I don't think I'd ever need annother knife. (but I'd still buy them :D )

I pretty much buy what appeals to me on a given day. My favorite Spydie is the Native III VG-10 PE. I have obtained a SS AUS-10 PE, Native II S30V PE and I have an all black PE S30V on the way. I really do like the natives and am thinking about getting some more. I don't care much for the SE blades but there are two out there that I may make an exception for, the limited Native with the Rootbeer shell inlay and the Tan Operation Iraqi Freedom. Other than those two I am going to try and get a blue G-10 "sterile" blade PE, blue FRN Native PE and I saw only one but I'm going to keep my eyes peeled out for it is a SS Native PE with the Spyderweb design on the handle. I have quite a few Kershaw Ken Onion designs, some Benchmade models, a couple of CRKT models and of course about 12 different models of Spydercos. I just bought my first small Classic Sebenza then ordered a large Regular Sebenza. Now I'm looking to get a small Regular and large Classic. It never ends!
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

i seem to have three general groups i gravitate towards:

- i like small spydies in general - d-fly, cricket, jester, etc.
- edc - endura frn ce, pro grip, etc.
- collectable - c 27 jess horn, carbon fiber walker, titanium herbst

...not very specific or narrowed down, but it's good for :spyder: sales... :D
SPYDERCO doesn't blend...and i like it!

Sounds about right to me. Some people try to collect what is going to be worth the most later, but I have found happiness is buying the I like.

As I fairly new collector ( just a few months) I cannot speak of a real collection yet. Only 3 spydies so far. But strangly enough there is already a pattern.. They are all stainless steel versions...

Besides that, I've used all my knives so far and do not consider myself as a collector who puts his knives on display. All knives are in my dressoir and each moring I decide my carry for that day.

Tactical, hard workers and unique designs

My collection has always focused on tacticals and certain designs that I particularly like i.e. the Ayoob, The Captain, The Lums ect. I certainly don't collect any model just because they happen to be popular with most folks. There are quite a few models that are very popular that I just don't like.

For instance I doubt if I ever end up owning a D'Alton Holder Toad or a Centofante Vesuvius. Great quality knives for sure. But simply designs that I can't like no matter how hard I try. Never really cared a great deal for any Butterfly knives either. Although had Spyderco made the Szabofly with a Titanium handle I would probably would have forced myself to like that one. I love Laci Szabo's designs period. I wish Spyderco and Szabo would collaborate on a fixed blade like the UUK Lightning or something of that ilk.

Now I am not confined to tacticals. I like knives that are extremely useful and work oriented like the big Dyad, The G-10 Harpy. I also like Spyderco's muscle knives i.e. The Chinook III, The Manix and Gunting. But bottom line I do pick and choose.

My collection grows and grows while still searching for the one perfect knife.

I hope I will find "the one" one time though(or Spyderco will make it)

The Delica3/SE and the Dodo/SE come close however. That's why I bought 2 extra D3's and I have 2 Back up Dodo's as well ;)

I'm kind of in this catergory. I am a definate impulse buyer. The problem is that there are too many I want and don't have.

:spyder: bit me when I bought Kopa Cocobolo. I love this knife and Kopas became my primary interest, also when my budget allows and I cannot resist other beauties I am buying them as well.
