T-Mag

#182

Post by Gibsoniam »

Wouter- to echo all the others, those are some incredible pictures! Thanks so much for the report. I've asked previously in another thread about the T-Mag, but not very many people have handled one. I had a quick question for you: is there a back spacer or is the t-mag hollow (like a cricket and salsa)? Also, is there any kind of a stop when closing the blade, as there is on the UKPK?

Thanks!
Mike

Hi Michael - Please let me try to answer this one for you. I don't recall a back spacer on the T-Mag. As you probably know the T-Mag operates with the help of rare earth magnets. These insure the knife's open and closed positions. There is a stop when closing and when opening but it is not a conventional ballbearing detend stop. It is the magnet that keeps things closed or open.
It also is the user's forefinger that helps to secure the knife open. This is very nifty, as it very well prevents the knife from closing while in use. I hope this answers more of your questions as it will raise.....(?)

Thanks, Jurphass! That does answer my questions. Now all I have to do is hurry up and wait. :)

Well we're home and trying to catch up. I finally got a chance to go through this thread.

The meet was a good time and I'd like to thank all for attending.

A special thanx to Jur. See you in Solingen next week :p

A special thanx to Wouter. great shots.

We learned a lot, met some great folks. It's actually quite a treat to have face to face time with such knowledgable knife afi's.

No doubt our designs are affected by your shared thoughts.

Great thread.

The Hossom Woodlander and H1 Utility made the top of my list.

Any word (or idea) on the length of the Hossom Woodlander?

I found stats in a Shot Show page.

Forester: Overall 15.563 in. / Cutting edge 9.125 in. / Weight 16.8 oz. / MSRP $375
Forager: Overall 14 in. / Cutting edge 7.5 in. / Weight 14.7oz. / MSRP: $340
Woodlander: Overall 12.625 in. / Cutting edge 6.094 in. / Weight 13.4 oz. / MSRP: $290
Dayhiker: Overall 10.5 in. / Cutting edge 4.563 in. / Weight 7.6 oz. / MSRP: $230

It's actually the Forester I'm after now.

The full 100% I would say, they are in the catalog as a regular item.

The Kopas have been coming out every 4-5 months. The Abalone/Pearl ones began shipping in late August/early September. My "guesstimate" would be somewhere between late December and early February for the jigged bone ones.

Do a search for it to find out all the stuff that went on with the Bifold. Summary; customs didn't like the imported parts and now the Bifold is postponed until further notice.
