Your Favorite FPS.. No, not frame per second.. First person shooter...

Post by psimonl »

Like some of you know, I am a big FPS player.

I shouldn't be because I waste a lot of sleeping time on them, but I still play.

Anyway.

For the past year, I have played what seems to be the all time 10 best games.

1- Half-life 2
2-F.e.a.r.
3-Sin Episode
4-COD 2
5-Painkiller
6-PREY
7- Doom 3
8- Quake 4
9-Dark Messiah
10-Brothers in arms: Earned in blood
11- XIII (very untalked about, but a very good story)

That is not counting a very much loved 3rd person shooter: Max Payne 2...

So, now, would you have any suggestion for me.....

Or:

Did you played any obscure game in the past year(s) that really got you going???

Simon,
I don't, but my husband does... his favorite is the Medal of Honor series. He would have enjoyed the Call of Duty series, but since it began on the PC platform and now Call of Duty 3 is only available on consoles, he's lost his interest in it completely. :(

I'll give him your list though, I think there is one or two that he doesn't own.

I'm old school. I have played Team Fortress Classic (TFC) for about 5 years now. It's a Half-Life mod.

Wolfenstein 3D
Unreal Tournament 99 and 04
Does Halo count?

PC only, no consoles.

currently, Resistance: Fall of Man. It has a fantastic storyline and a totally unique combat engine. Overall, my hat is tipped to Goldeneye... the FPS that has taken more of my time than any other video game in my personal history of gaming.

I wasn't a huge fan of Dark Messiah.

PC: I played the delta force series since day one and still have BHD(black hawk down) loaded up and ready to go.
I play console games more now though and just got a xbox 360 not too long ago.
console: Halo2 by far the best fps game Ive ever played and has taken more of my time than any other game... ever. and I cant wait for H3 to hit the market. Ive been playing a lot of Rainbow6:las vegas. Its pretty fun.

any Half life 2 variation (Deathmatch, Lost Island, all those), and Battlefield 2. Has anyone played BF2142 yet? I can't decide on whether or not I should buy it yet.

Amen to that! Same here! I really dislike sci-fi in my FPS, so that rules out almost anything on the market.

My favorite FPS is the original Unreal Tournament. I still prefer it to UT2004, I think because UT2004 feels like it wants to be more like Quake 3, and UT just had a better feeling to me than Q3. Even though UT2004 has pretty much the same weapons as UT, it sort of feels like they nerfed them. I do love UT2004's vehicles and Onslaught mode, though.

I used to really like first person shooters, but they all seem rehashed now. They don't do anything new anymore. Like severedthumbs, I'll give an honorable mention to Gears of War, despite not being an FPS. ;)
