Just missed out on an $89 NIB Black Yojimbo!!!
I recently found and bought a NIB black Yojimbo for $120.
Bought it; love it; carry it every day.
I like it so much I've been considering buying another just to put away.
Then today, I found one for $90!!! So I was very tempted to buy it.
But it was identical to the one I just got, and would only get put in a drawer in a box, and probably never be used, unless my current one broke or something.
I was sure my wife would have thought I was crazy if I bought it.
I could have easily resold the second one for a profit, but I couldn't bear to sell it, so that wasn't really a consideration.
While I was trying to make up my mind, someone else bought it!
Snooze you lose!
Still not sure whether to be bummed that I didn't get it, or relieved that I don't have to decide!
I only hesitated because I would have felt a "little bit" silly buying a duplicate! Don't exactly have the budget for that, and hard to justify ...
Oh well! Had to share with folks who would understand the "dilemma!!!"

That's funny I recently ordered a black Yojimbo and obviously can't wait for it's arrival. That sounds like a great price! I paid 119.00 plus shipping. You certainly can't go though this is one HARD KNIFE TO FIND! I remember when they were everywhere and now it's like they've all vanished. I feel this is going to be a great knife for the collector because there are only going to be few that weren't users. I say you should've and I should've :)

Part of being an accomplished martial artist is the ability to heal. Apparently throwing salt on a wound is an accepted practice in the eastern healing arts. :p We westerners have so much to learn. :pDr. Snubnose wrote:$9:eek: black? and you didn't get it?..... OUCH!...Doc :D
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.

Turned out to be a good thing I didn't spend the cash.
Found out the day after my original post that my job is being eliminated, and I'm being laid off in about a month.
I can say that I've been collecting knives for about 10 years, and the Yojimbo is the only one I've ever considered buying a duplicate of.
The fit, finish and build quality are all very impressive.
Wish I'd bought a Yo two years ago ... I considered it, but didn't buy it because I didn't understand the compression lock.
I though the CL was "just" a top-mounted liner lock, and I'm not a huger liner-lock fan.
But once you see the CL in action, you realize it's completely different from a Walker liner lock. Because the CL wedges the liner between the tang and stop pin, it should be equally strong in both directions.
AND the blade has ZERO play. AND your fingers don't have to be in the blade path to close the knife.
Although I held out for a black one, I agree that "any Yo is a good Yo."
I say, if you can only get a blue one, get it. The knife is that good.
The Yo has also shown me the real importance of edge geometry in real-world sharpness.
On paper, the ZDP Caly Jr. "should" be sharper than the Yo.
But the Yo has so far felt much sharper than my Caly Jr. ever has, on everything I've cut with it. It's simply the sharpest knife I've ever held, and I've held a few!

You should check out the Karambit, Merciful. That is one scary-sharp puppy!merciful wrote:Sorry to hear about the job, and good luck.
My Ronin came last week, and I have the impression that it's sharper than the Yo, right out of the box. Before its arrival, the Yo was the sharpest knife I'd ever encountered.
