My cat's a Spyderholic too....

#1

Post by MacTech »

This was so amusing, i was sitting on the bed watching the latest episode of Galactica, my cat, Blue was at the foot of the bed just lounging, i grabbed my Para and absentmindedly flipped it open to open up a package of chips (yes, yes, i know, overkill, right, the Para was the closest to hand)

i glanced over at Blue and he was *staring* at the Para, totally transfixed, i moved the bag of chips around, but he was focused on the Para, when i moved the Para around, his head followed the movements, his eyes as big as saucers

i got the feeling he was thinking "that's a *COOL* knife.... i want one!"

so, me having the scientific mindset i do, i proceeded to perform a little test....

i opened the Millie, Blue was fascinated by it, put the millie and para side by side, he stared at the Para

time for other blades;
D4 Wave; Meh....
Dodo; cool, i like the Para better though
Lava; Meh....
Kiwi; Meh....

he seems to like larger blades with G-10 scales

here's the resident furry Spydie critic;

Here, he's made his choice, the Para

That's pretty funny :D

But more importantly, it just reminded me that Galactica premired tonight :eek: ! I was worried I had missed it, but low and behold, it's on again in a half an hour :D !

Thanks for the great pics and for the story. Looks like I'll have to conduct a couple tests on my own cats soon... but I have no Mouse... :( ;)

I got two furry creatures myself. One is a pudgy good guy (girl), but she's the one who snaps at my knives at every occasion; she wants to chew them. The other is um...let's say she comes with a manual. :D But that one is really comfy with my knives. She gets her best naps while using my Endurahawk for a pillow! :D

That is one cute cat! Good story, gonna have to try this on my two little devils. My only cat knife story is that one of them decided to gnaw on the G10 of a Benchmade that I had decided to sell (the small teeth marks in the G10 ended up in the price being lower...) Hmm, says something about their taste (ha ha, sorry, couldn't resist.)

By chance,is that a Russian Blue?
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

Hey jaislandboy and Dslteck,don't forget your two cat's Canadian cousin.Here he is posing with his Salt1.He's 15 years old this year and was brought to a Firehouse in one of our rougher sections of the City in a box.One of my buddies brought him home for his little girl,but after a month,she lost interest and her Dad said he had to go.I had just gotten my first apartment so I said I'd take him.A couple of years later,a lady came to my door canvassing for a charity and said,"Oh my,what a beautiful cat!..I think he's a Maltese and they are very rare-take good care of him."I chuckled thinking how I had aquired him,but jokingly made mention to my buddy that he had given away such a rare creature.His reply was..."If that cat's worth anything,I lent you that cat!" :D

All these years later he's part of the family and we sure love him.Incidently,can anyone guess his name? Keep in mind he's a Firefighter's cat....Fun thread Mactech.

it took me forever to get my cat to "pose" like that. she gives "high-fives" so i captured her in mid "five" and poorly photoshopped a stock photo of a para. it didn't come out as i had planned, but it was taking way too long so i posted it. next time i'll just try what everyone else is doing -- photograph the cat and the knife together!

anyone else good at manipulating photos via software? if so, it'd be cool to see how creative you can get with a spyderco photo (ala simona's great work).

either way, the pic shows two of my favorite things -- Novi (the fuzzy white thing) and Spyderco (the shiny pointy thing).

My dog loves to chew on G10 and especially FRN, but not SS. He never even tried it, he just knew... Maybe all of our animals are on here posing as people. Poodle anyone? :D

Hi Rycen,
yes, she's a "mixed" Russian Blue.....really a barn cat I picked up near Louisville Kentucky....she's got a white patch of fur on her belly that "gives it away".... :p

Squad314: nice cat! but I haven't got a clue to his name.... :confused: :)
