Changes in CS/W&R

#1

Post by TazKristi »

I just wanted to update everyone on a change here in Customer Service / Warranty & Repair.

Terry has decided to move on from Spyderco. His last day was Friday. We would like to wish Terry all the best and know he will do well!

This obviously means we have an opening here in that area. If anyone is interested (serious applicants please - and local :D ), please feel free to come by and drop off a resume and complete an application.

We do have several folks here who are cross-trained in that area, so don't worry, it won't come to a stand-still, but please be aware this obviously will cause a bit of a delay. We appreciate your patience!

Kristi
There is nothing more important than this one day.

You just opened up quite a Pandora's box, you know. :D The flurry of applications just from forumites willing to relocate should be amazing...

Good luck, Terry!

Mr. Vu,

I hope the powers of the evil monkey will bring him back.

What's going on over there? Why is turnover high at Spyderco W&R? Is it because by the time a :spyder: is truly non-functional, it looks like something that rusted off an aircraft carrier?

Why don't I live in Colorado?

Terry: thanks for doing business with us, and for taking care of our problems. All the best !! :)

IF I wanted to relocate, can you guys give me a bit of info about the costs of housing in Colorado ?? :D And will I get a small amount of my salary "up front" to cover some expenses ?? Because it sure is tempting... ;)

Better pack some snowboots...

I bet always having people sniping at you and your work at forums like this adds to the stress level. We've all seen posts complaining about nonsensical stuff that we knew couldn't be true also. Joe

Hey Taz,

What kind of salary range are we looking at? I've been thinking of relocating anyway!

Good luck to Terry.

I just graduated with a degree in Finance, does Spyderco have any positions open for accounting/finance? I would flip if I could work in my field, while working with my hobby

offering the possibility of having this position open forumite, has staggering implications both positive and negative. obviously many of us daydream about actually working for spyderco work at spyderco especially in this position, would put any one of us in a tricky position, obviously one of the main problems be distancing oneself from the inevitable return from a friend or well-known for my and objectively valuing evaluating, the circumstance separate from personal feelings, desire to appease individuals because of their prominence on the forum etc. also this person would have access to a lot of dirty laundry x member returned X. amount of knives under x circumstances, be imprudent use of this information could have very negative effects. Even General discussion from an inside perspective on the type of things to get returned and how many could be very heated. returns is an ugly job on one hand you have a high-end product with a high-end return policy, I suspect a lot a whole lot of dubious returns everything from obvious damage or neglect to in the case of form on its problems of a minor nature as far as fit and finish, which may be for spyderco far inside normal variation within a model that would be inspected and shipped out without comment, but in the eyes of a collector is an unacceptable lapse in quality. I work for a large company that has a liberal return policy, and if our returns are at all representative, this job would sour almost anyone on human nature in the and elu in particular. That being said if I lived in the area I would drop into the to discuss the position. Excellent probably drop in an annoying amount of hours in the area. ;)

I just imagine a worse case scenario before might posts about a denied claim to warranty repair alleging basically that the form might in charge of warranty repair doesn't like him personally. not only in this case, might there be a possibility of posts likes how can you please ask warranty repair to give me a break. or a whole thread based around a warranty repair issue with people's general character and honesty being flung about on both sides.

Heck I've worked for Home Depot...if that didn't turn me off to working with the public then nothing will.

Mayhap I'll take a jaunt down to Spyderco way and drop off an App.

Sad to see Terry go, I wish him nothing but the best of luck in future endeavors.

I'd enjoy that job, and I'm unemployed anyway :p

But I'm not local, and likely not qualified  (stupid qualifications... I can do anything qualified people can, only i do it cheaper :p )

Forgot about all of that stuff. I'm naive.

Butch,

You manage to survive stinging critiques from foodies, so you're more than qualified.

Is Sydney, Australia considered local? :) It is a global world economy... hehehe, wish I was in Colorado.

Can't even carry anything vaguely resembling a knife here. Get frowned upon eating takeaway food with a plastic spork

Best wishes Terry, and Spyderco lookout for a flood of apps.
