SS Cricket went through the laundry, heat treatment ruined?
So imagine my surprise, when I pull my jeans out of the dryer and I find my much-loved Cricket still clipped to the waistband of my pants... Could the high temperatures of the dryer have messed up the heat treatment of the blade?

Nope, not unless the heat was so high that the clothes were charred. It'll be fine. Joe

So you got it cleaned.
A drop of oil on the pivot and she's brand new.

Yeah, no worries, I've washed every knife I've ever used as an EDC for any amount of time at least once and none of them has been the worse for it.

i have washed my cricket many times but no big deal
jsut remember that no harm willm come of your blade under 300F (no baking it in a cake now) :D
not that a frn handle can deal with that kind of temp but your
yep its clean now so a little oil and clean up the edge and its new
one thing to be thankfull for is that the blade didnt open itself in there im betting that a open spyder in the wash would make plenty of spyder holes

I expect the steel is tempered at a higher tempature than will be reached in the dryer. I agree with the others that HT should be okay.

If and when you wash/dry your lockbacks; be sure to check the lock notch area for a lint pocket. I washed/dried a Stretch a few months ago; and it formed a huge unsafe lint trap in the locking area. Enough lint gathered to prevent it from locking...luckily I noticed before I could hurt myself. Not an issue with the Reeve linerlock though.
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.
