My new 'Street Beat' parking lot ... ;-)

Post by connor »

Hi *@*,

yesterday I attended a 'leather workshop" and made my first leather sheath.
Thanks to the help and knowledge of Jürgen Duttenhöfer I crafted this with his tools and materials and under his supervision in about 7 hours (my hands are still aching).

I like the knife a lot better now and think this one should really come with a leather sheath straight from the factory (do you hear me, Sal? :D ) .. the Street Beat looks sooo nice in it.

Hi Connor,

Now that's a simple but very nice sheat for the Streetbeat.
Great job you did there, i like it much better then the original one made from Kydex.

That sheath is awesome. I only wish it came with that sheath. :)

Really nice work man.

Nice work. I think it makes the knife look a little less "tactical", which might help if you tend to be around some skittish people.

Hey, that is your first sheath? Fantastic....and soo german. I recently got a Street Beat and happen to like the Spyder Sheath but your sheath has a warm and more...organic feel. Super stiching.

Nice work.

Thank you for the kind words.

The sheath was made from calf leather (outer layer) and nubuck leather (inner layer) and waxed nylon thread was used for the stitching. Tomorrow I will treat the sheath with some SnowSeal for protection.

Hmm, I guess a lanyard is mandative for this setup. Any suggestions?

That is beautiful work, and totally awesome as a first effort at sheath making. It certainly compliments the Street Beat well. You can be very proud of your creation. I am sure it will give you many years of faithful service.

I would prefer kydex over leather for VG10 knives, you will slice it open, sooner or later... ;)

I fancy that sheath, and the knife for that matter.. I don't think I could carry that thing around though. Out here in Los Angeles County (where I work).. probably a bad idea  I like the contrast of the light stitching and the dark leather.

That's a great job, looks professional, especially the stitching.
