I finally bought my Glock!! G19, 9mm...and my goal for 2007 is to get my CCW, when i can squeeze it into my school schedule!

...when i went to the gun shop and told the salesperson behind the counter that I wanted the Glock, she said, "I'll bet you're law enforcement." Priceless! She didn't seem particularly naive, maybe she says that to all the women buying guns!? :confused: I was laughing inside!!! :D :D

Cool! Now you need to provide the obligatory gun pics, preferably modeled with a Spyderco or two.

Don't forget to stock up on magazines, the gun banners are coming to town. Hi-Cap Glock mags went for 80-100 just prior to the sunset of the last magazine ban. You can get the same for under $20 now. Even if you are in law enforcement, you won't necessarily always be so. P.P.P.

Congrats!
I purchased my Glock 17 way back in '99. I've never had a failure to feed, fire, or eject. Accuracy is pretty darn good too! :cool:

Like Zen suggested, stock up on hi-cap mags.... just in case.

Outstanding choice ESAS, Now practice,practice,practice. Go to wally world or local farm/ranch supply store and buy some bulk pack 9mm and get comfortable with that G19. Start the great holster search now too. Did you get Tritium night sights? They are fairly handy, as much for locating your weapon on the nightstand as for anything else. Good luck, and ask if you need anything. Congradulations. Bigk6 Pics would also be nice.

Congrats. I have the 19 and love it. Most ol'timers love thier 45's but I just went against the grain many years ago and got the 19. I'm sure you will have fun and feel secure with it.

Story goes, there is a G19 in the Glock factory that is used for testing and the likes. Has fired in excess of a quarter of a million rounds and no major breakages. Walt Rausch torture tested, and I mean torture tested a G17 also without major breakage after 147000 rounds;

Excellent choice. Got 3 myself. G17, G23, and G27. I've been on the lookout for a 2nd generation G19 for about a year to no avail (I'm cheap). That gun will never fail you.

I really liked my Glock 21. It was .45 cal. and it was easier to shoot than my 1911. But I sold my Glock because It didn't have the safeties and locks like my mini 1911.
I hope you enjoy your new tool/toy. Good luck getting your CCW.

The Glock 19 is an excellent choice. I'm trying to talk my wife into one for when I'm on the road. I transitioned from a H&K P7M13 to a Glock 22 the first time I switched agencies and now carry either a 23 or 27 with my current agency. We went to the range today and shot qualifications and some head-to-head competition shooting steel. Even a bad day at the range is better than a good day in the office :D

Good luck with the CCW and welcome to the world of Glock.

Karen,

I've never carried a 1911, but for some reason carrying a cocked and locked single action 1911 seems less safe to me than a safe action Glock. Keep in mind, I would never carry a Glock with anything but a holster that covers the trigger guard. We are authorized to carry 1911s off-duty, but I would have to totally retrain myself to remove the lock when coming up to engage the threat. I prefer the Ph.D philosophy, press here dummy.

I agree to a point. I can see and feel when my 1911 is cocked and locked, I couldn't with a glock, and there is no hammer lock. A Glock is wonderful if you are carrying it in a hip holster. I have an Ultra Carry II, it's small and light compared to a normal 1911.
