Green G-10 Chinook with a SS Spydie inlay! Give it a lt./rt., up/down clip option and a belt pouch. That would rock!

Sal, OK to not make your costs any higher (well maybe a little higher), I think we should go with the Chinook for the next Forum Knife!!! But please use some color for the G10, anything but black! I would support, blue, burgandy, green, camo, etc. Pass the extra expense on to us for the G10. You don't have to put in any inlays because I know that is more expense, but please, no FRN or Black G10. Just my 2 cents. Thanks, Ron.....

Hello everyone,

I would like to add my thoughts on a forum model.
There has been both a linerlock and a lockback model already, so how about a different lock such as the compresion or phantom lock.

My thoughts would run to a blue handled Vesuvius with a silver inlay in place of the blue one on the current model, plain or spyderedge, with a VG-10 blade.
Or, a blue handled Meerkat with a silver or gold "bug" inlay, with a plain edge.

Bruceter

PS. a blue Calypso Jr. would be nice also

I know I'm out of step on this, butt I am just sitting here fondling my micarta Calypso Jr and gotta put in a wish for a white or ivory micarta or polished G10 handled Calypso Jr Forum Special with VG10 steel. Make it screw construction and I'd pop for one for each of my family if you got them out by Xmas.

Oh well........back to daydreaming.

Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes. Calypso Jr. in ivory micarta with a silver bug inlay or leave it plain so it could be scrimshawed. Doesn't matter as long as it has a VG10 blade. My micarta Calypso is one of my favourite EDC and I would love a classier version in VG10.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

You all have some great ideas which makes it hard to choose. I'd also like to see a Calypso with white mircarta scales with a S.S. inlay. I really don't like FRN! I've had a couple of white Jess Horns and loved the way they looked. The red Horns were great also.

I have a "baby" Jess Horn in white/ivory micarta. They are great, butt the edges are a bit "crisp" The guy that had these was in the process of "smoothing" the baby one himself.
The micarta Calypso on the other hand is smooth on all edges.

My vote goes to a plain edged Calypso Jr.

Seems like the perfect Forum knife.

OK- taking my Endura apart and rebuilding it into the Uber-Spyder...

Blade- A very high end steel, but one which can also work at a moment's notice. I like BG-42, VG-10 or CPM 440V for this one. Mirror polished would be a major plus. Edge configuration is not a major factor.

Handle- I have two ideas for this one. Either a black Micarta with a Mother of Pearl inlay, or polished ivory Micarta. I lean towards ivory, as this would complement the blade nicely.

Clip- White, with the Spyderbug in gold. I'm not sure if this could be done, but I think it should be possible.

There is my vision of the Uber-Spydie.

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

I like the idea of the Blue Calypso jnr with a MOP Spyder inlay. However Clays white micarta Calypso with silver Spyder inlay also gets my vote.
Please make it a plain edge, VG10 blade.

OK Sal - you can call me a s**t disturber, but this topic has had little discussion lately so I thought I'd post something I came across regarding "another knife companies forum knife"...

"There is a Benchmade Forum knife. A 705 in M2 with BC1 coating and CF scales and a tweaked clip. 100 are being made, but all are pre-sold"

I'm saving my money for the Spyderco forum knife!!!! (whatever it may be??)

Guys, nice thoughts...
Think its more practical to have an FRN-handled piece. Its cost-effecient and far-reaching. I'd stick to the PE Endura with Olive-Drab or Desert Tan handles with a Stainless Steel bug in-lay and a portion from the proceeds of this sale would go to the aid of the WTC rescue workers and victims of the recent terrorist attack... Heck! I might even sponsor an OD or Desert Tan Endura for the US serviceman who will see action in the up and coming campaign to curb terrorism...

How about one of the new knives for this years Forum Knife? I love the new Temperance with the trailing point blade with the green G10. You wouldn't have to do anything to it, except maybe engrave the blade. ~OR~ if we must go with FRN, then I vote for the new Meercat plain blade with a colored FRN scale. Both of these knives have the new type lock, either compression or phantom. I will try to include photos. The Temperance photo is a leaf blade, I prefer the trailing point.

This is too much fun! Here are my nominations:

Calypso, Jr. in either version:

1. Blade: VG-10, plain edge, with Spyder
logo and "Special Edition" laser
engraving
Handle: Maroon (or burgundy) FRN
Clip: Stainless steel (Chromed?)

2. Blade: VG-10, plain edge, with "Special
Edition" laser engraving
Handle: Ivory Micarta w/Spyder logo
stainless steel inlay
Clip: Stainless Steel (Chromed?)

As Captain Picard of Star Trek would say: "Make it So!"

My pick would be the Endura with a green handle/black blade combo. I think the advantage to this would be the appeal to those outside the forum as well. It would be a practicle piece. Please no fancy decorations, simple etching of the meaning would be enough. The endura is truly the standard of spyderco.
