new delica

It came today.

My first fully serrated and I like it so far. There's no play in the blade and it's nice and light. I do wish it had a clip like my caly3 though... I like how low that sits in my pocket. Overall, an excellent tool.

I love the low ride Caly 3 clip too. Sal has said they are working on a low ride clip for the Delica/Endura models. I don't think it is on his top 10 priority list though. :(

Hi Redhawk,

Yes and yes. but it's not forgotten.

Congrats Mbeattie.

I think you'll like the performance of the model. I would suggest you give the "hourglass" clip a chance (that means use it ;) ), before reaching any "preference" conclusions. Both good, just different.

Spyderco invented the pocket clip for knives (1981) and we're always working on them to improve performance (grip, access, best strength, less scratch, secure long term fastening, etc.)

The hourglass clip has a lot of history in clip development. A thumb on the bi-directional texturing, index finger in the arc and retrieval is secure.

4 way clips are a bugger to design and still have an effective performer. The hourglass clip on the Endura4 and Delica 4's are not bad.

I'm loving the new Delica 4s. I had not had one, nor wanted another, since 1996 when I gave mine to a fellow soldier. I just never liked the barrel clip and the way the back/pommel of the handle looked on the Delica 3s - personal preferance issue only.

When the Delica & Endura 4 came out I really liked the way they looked. I first got a Endura 4 and really liked it so I knew I'd get a Delica 4. 1st Delica I got was the Sprint Run in PE ZDP-189 & Periwinkle handles. Absolutely loved it, but I prefer a SE for work. Just got my SE ZDP-189 BRG Delica 4 about a week ago and I don't see me getting a new EDC for work for a while.

We are not saying the new clips are bad. There are many places we go in our everyday lives where knives are frowned upon by many people. It is nice to be able to carry without the public being exposed to the handle of a knife protruding from a pocket.

Yes, I must agree that is a real advantage to low profile clips.

I am really liking my BRG Delica, but I do prefer the wire clip on the Caly 3. I really think you nailed the perfect design! It doesn't scratch as easy, it holds the knife well and it conceals better. Please do more knives with the wire clip :)

Congrats mbeattie....the D4 is one heck of a great knife.....It seems that in the past 3 months "street prices" have come down......Like I'm seeing some internet shops selling the VG10 D4 for around $40-45 USD......which to me seems like a bargain for the quality of knife you get...kinda like when the Golden Native hit Wally World.... :)

Oh don't worry. I will be using it.

Actually in the day I have had it I already appreciate that clip. It's nice and smooth and I find it easier to draw from my pocket than the wire one.
