It may be somewhat common here but in the world it is extremely rare to reach this degree of sharpness.

wow! did you have to sharpen the factory edge even more to get this level of sharpness? where / how do I get a sharpmaker DVD? when I bought my sharpmaker 4 years ago, I didn't watch the video (cos I don't have a player) but if it's DVD, I can watch it on my PC.....I just kinda stroked my knives up and down the rods, like in the instruction manual. Maybe I'm not doing it right? I've always gotten my spyders to shave, but slicing a paper tube....wow!!!!

I used to waste the time getting my knives that sharp. Then realized the extra time I was wasting getting the knife to that level of sharpness was just that a waste of time. At that level of sharpness the edge does not last long enough to justify the extra time it takes to get it there.
