Question about my NOS Police

#1

Post by mnblade »

Recently picked up an older serrated Police via an online auction. Mint condition. Great knife. Has a red box and the tang says just "SPYDERCO" on one side and "SEKI-JAPAN" on the other side. Can anyone tell me what steel the blade is? What about when the knife was made? Thanks in advance. (And thanks, Sal, for such a killer blade!)

EDITED TO ADD:
Side of box says, "1007R-SER CLIPIT POLICE MODEL Right Hand-Serrated Edge"

Steel would be GIN-1. Fact that there is no steel marking indicates it was made before 1992, as they started being marked G-2 (another name for GIN-1) around then. Box and "1000" series model number are consistent with that too. Is POLICE or POLICE MODEL written on the blade?

If it's NIB i suggest you keep it that way, then!

Those Polices are getting scarce, and command a pretty good price, actually!
