ABOUT 7 YRS AGO I WAS IN THE LOCAL WALMART AND SAW A KNIFE IN THE DISPLAY CASE.IT WAS A SPYDERCO SER. DRAGONFLY.I LIKED THE WAY IT OPENED AND CLOSED WITH ONE HAND.I HAD NEVER HEARD OF SPYDERCO BEFORE AND HAD NO IDEA OF HOW MUCH IT SHOULD COST BUT I THOUGHT IT SEEMED REALLY WELL MADE AND ASKED HOW MUCH.THE GUY BEHIND THE COUNTER COULD NOT FIND A BOX OR UPC SO WE GOT THE MANAGER AND HE ENDED UP SELLING IT TO ME FOR 12.00.BEST PURCHASE I EVER MADE.I HAVE CARRIED ONE FORM OR ANOTHER OF SPYDIE EVER SENCE.
TELL ME THE STORY OF HOW YOU GOT YOUR FIRST SPYDIE.

YOUR FIRST SPYDIE
Well, I was looking for a aluminum cricket about 18 months ago. A friend had showed it to me and I really liked it.
I couldn't find it anymore on any internet shops or regular knife shops, but when I walked into an adventure store, there was one lying in a display. They also couldn't find the box and sold it to me for the price of a zytel one. It was fl. 75,-- which was approx. $35 then.
I now also have a serrated and a pink one.
I never leave home without it..

My first spyderco?
I was already fond of spyderco, and figured if I ws going to collect knives, at least one would have to be a spyderco.
Went to my local knife shop, and the guy i knew sold me a SS police. He was a really good friend, and I paid only 60 dollars, for a serrated Stainless police! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Cursed with a truly lousy memory, I can't remember which Spyderco I actually received first.
I do know that the decision to buy a Spyderco was based on Dennis Bible's posts on the Wegner. So, in my mind that was the first knife, though 1 or 2 others might have arrived first. Just can't remember.

My love for knives is old. I had Wengers, Victorinox, Bokers, Arbolitos, Bucks, Custom made, Spanish knives, swords, katanas, tantos, etc., etc., etc. Then about 5 years ago I was "somewhere" with my boyfriend of many years (now my husband! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>), and we went into a knife store to buy some gifts and I saw this very KEWL knife on display. I had heard about Spyderco, but never actually owned one, but this knife was too KEWL to ignore! I asked the lady to show it to me and I immediately knew I had to have it! It was too unusual to pass by and I did not have _anything_ like it. It looked like something out of a Sci-Fi movie (yes, I have been a Sci-Fi fan all my life), so I bought it for 70+ dollars and up to this day I do not regret it. I carry this knife with me EVERY DAY, even if I do or don't carry any others, and I have mentioned it before here. It's my Q, with the Spyder logo in the skeleton blade. It's sharp looking, sharp cutting, and many people ask me about it and where I got it. I never give my story with such detail, but I do always end up saying, there are a lot of good quality knives out there, but nothing quite compares to my Spydercos. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
I am now considering another Spyderco model to carry with me while trekking, roller blading, or biking. I never even thought about acquiring another brand this time.

My first one, of the seven I have now, was a Worker, which I still have. I bought it because I was tired of setting down my Cold Steel Med. Clip Mate all the time; I got the Worker primarily because of the clip, but fell in love with the one hand opening feature. That Cold Steel piece of junk is in my tool box now, where it gets used primarily for scraping off old gaskets. That thing never held an edge anyway; that's another reason I was looking for a replacement.
Its all fun and games til somebody loses an eye, then its fun annd games you can't see.

My first Spyderco was an FRN delica with the molded clip (2 years ago?). I put it in a POCK-ITS pouch with a Leatherman Super Tool and a Maglite and there it sat. I guess about 9 months ago I bought a Michael Walker lightweight and replaced my Gerber EZ Out as EDC. Thats what got me hooked. Its a smooth little number for a lightweight EDC. Now I have 22 Spyderco's and I'm always lookin for my next one.
I set up a table at local area Gun Shows so I always see my buddy the knife dealer. He's a bit like a drug dealer. He knows I'm hooked so he strings me along and feeds my need.
Pssst hey Mike (he whispers discreetly) take a look at this SS Rookie...nice eh?

My first spydie was the frn delica pe several months ago. I bought it for work. I work at a pool supply store and am always cutting stuff. I got sick of the lame box cutters they had which were dull and dangerous. I actually bought a ckrt m16z to begin with but I didn't like the way it held an edge and i didn't have a 204 at the time to sharpen it so I traded it in for my delica. Now i'm hooked. I have 4 folders plus a santoku as well as 3 given as gifts to others.

August '99... I just got back from a 3 week camp, $120 or so sitting to be spent...
Went into Cutting Edge, and was looking aorund, probably handled all the knifes I could afford, but those ones with the "funny hole in the blade". A Biker was looking at one, and opening it with ONE HAND... WHAT A CONCEPT!
I went and looked at it, and ended up walking out with one... a satisfied customer, and now a large part of thier spydie purchases come from me... both my own and me sending ppl from the forums...
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I was looking for a new work knife, but with no knife dealer with 150 miles I had to be sure of my purchase.
I had also been after a keychain knife, but had never found anything suitable. When I saw the Ladybug on this site I thought it would be an ideal thing for gauging the rest of the Spyderco range. Got the Ladybug, and within 2 weeks of getting it I had ordered the Military.

My first was a Endura given to me by my brother a couple years ago. I had never heard of Spyderco, but I fell in love with it and found my self constantly fondling it. I had it for a year or so and it was stolen out of my truck.
I immediatly replaced it and also picked up a Q. I found that the Q was even more at home in my hand and I never went anywhere without it. A friend and coworker broke his Endura at work one day and I could see he was heart broken so when I quit I gave him mine.
Now I find my self without a Spydie. My Q was stolen out of a hotel room. I'm carrying a Gerber Cameleon, but it's not the same.
I was dissapointed to find that the Q is now considered a collectable and prices are going up and supplies are going down. I think maybe I'll try a Delica this time, the rate I am going through these things I can't afford to track down a new Q every six months or so!
