How about a Calypso jr. w/ a G-10 handle the same color blue as the Bladeforums Native? All other aspects of the knife would be the same.

Or a special run of Temperance Jr's?

whatabout something affordable? Practical for daily use? I'd go for a Olive-Drab handled Endura with a Stainless Steel Spyder logo inlay on its handle... <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Your getting closer SAMO.

I like your idea of an Endura with an Inlay. The inlay could be of either stainless or mother of pearl. Maybe we should stick with mother of pearl Sypder inlay and use this to have the Forum knives stand out.
The Endura or Delica would be a statement on the models that have endured for so long in popularity.

samo> good point there. We often overlook the Delica/Endura line although it's one of the top sellers. We tend to go for high end sydies, even though the c10 and c11 started us.

I wouldn't mind a vg-10 Delica with a stainless bug in the handle.

I;d prefer a smaller sized knife, Delica/Native class. That way, you can take it out and use it almost anywhere. I would support a souped up Delica of some sort. Lets
see: VG10 blade, G10 (colored) handle, and a 'bug' inlay.

Ok- just my 2 cents worth. How about a VG-10 Endura with G-10 scales with small "Spydies" in the G-10 like the new Wegner has pugs?? I think it would be cool as he** and would pay handsomly for it.

Ok, I have read all the replies and there are some good suggestions. The one I read that I like the most is the Chinook with Blue G10. That is one of my favorite knives. I can't say I agree with the guys that say it should be a low end knife. The forum model should be an expensive collector edition. Why spend extra money on an everday user? I also agree with the guys that say they don't care what model it is, as long as it is a colored G10 or Carbon Fiber. I agree that it should be something other than a Military. I just said that to get the discussion going and I guess it worked! Whatever Sal wants to do is fine with me!!!!

Another forumn knife with a splder inlay is a great idea! My choice would be a Calypso Jr.
with a g-10 handle and a pearl Spyderco logo
inlay because this model is being discontinued and I would like another in plain edge. Another model choice would be the Vesuvius with smooth FRN, the Spyderco logo in pearl with a 50/50 edge.

"Tut tut, sounds like trouble" (as the Pooh says).

So many suggestions....no consensus?

Making an existing FRN model in a different color is the easiest and the cheapest.

Trying to make something in G10 has proven in the past to be too expesnive to do the volume necessary to even "break even".

Soooo....let's start with an FRN model.

let's pick one....plain or serrated

Let's AGREE on one color.

Then....we can discuss it further and see what the details might be and how many of you actually want to buy one.

Coming late to this thread, I can't think of an FRN model I would covet other than a special "Q", blue and plainedged. Or an "R" would be even more special, butt we would be away from FRN again. A larger blue "R" model with the original "bug" design cutout blade of the "Q" would float my boat and loosen my wallet.

I assume we are talking about "inhouse" designs as that way Spyderco would be free to do modifications without consulting with the collaborators.

After reading Sal's questions - my vote would be for:

Delica (but could be convinced to accept a Native or Endura)

Plain-edged (but could be convinced to accept serrated - not 50/50)

Blue (but could be convinced to accpet other colours)

I would definitely buy one (but could easily be convinced to buy more than one!)

What about a dark green / forest green calypso jr. pe. Maybe in one of the new alloys sal is testing. I seem to remember he was testing a cobalt alloy military. Maybe that cobalt blade in an endura with a handle the same color blue as the blade?

dark green/ or blue(same color as BF natives?)
c52 calypso jr. pe or c11 Delica plain

vg-10 or one of the new alloys(what a large test group to try it on, eh?)... that cobalt alloy military sounds interesting for the steel...

I could be convinced to buy at least one for x-mas... it may be late, but it'll be one **** of a gift from papa spyder!

Delica or Endura would be great. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
PlainEdge would be great. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
VG-10 or CPM-440V would be great. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
OliveDrab or Camo FRN would be great. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
Black coated blade would be great.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
Steel SpyderBug inlay would be wonderful, but I can live without it. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Chinook:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=1 face=arial>quote:<hr height=1 noshade>I can't think of an FRN model I would covet other than a special "Q", blue and plainedged. Or an "R" <hr height=1 noshade></BLOCKQUOTE></font><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2>
I am with Chinook on this one. Either a "Q" or "R". However, my FRN color choice is: Green!

VG-10 steel of course. And a pouch!

PS Wonder if there´d be room for a compression lock?? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Count me in for one, whatever it ends up being. Delica, Calypso Jr, Endura, they are all good. A blue VG-10, PE Delica would be cool, and might appeal to people not afflicted with "The Fever" as well. Jeff

ok Sal, that whould help narrow it down logicaly...
Soooo....let's start with an FRN model. While Endura is my first pick, it may be too big for some states to carry legally, so I would have to say, CALYPSO Jr.
(I think this is the next generation of Spyderco's.)

let's pick one....plain or serrated PLAIN (seems to be more popular around the forum)

Let's AGREE on one color. Dark GREEN (different that the production model and it would stand out)

My question to Sal would be, do we want to maintain a single color for FORUM knives, and keep the mother of pearl Spyder Inlay?

So my choice in summary:
CALYPSO Jr., PLAIN Edge, Dark GREEN with White mother of pearl inlay.

As an exercise of my paint program and as a lobby for the "R" as the next Forum Special I submit a "Q" blade on a colored "R" body.
