The persistance of Spydie "rip offs"

To : ALL Forumites

I was recently purusing the HEARTLAND

U.S.A. catalog and saw ( yet ! ) another

Spydie "rip off" ( NOT "knock off" as plagiargism is so commonplace in the knife

industry )! Sal, if you don't mind my

asking, how ( or why ) is it that you

tolerate such thievery ? How do the rest

of you forumites feel about this ?

Please advise.

Hi Allen. First of all, there is no "Patent Police". Enforcement is done via attorney and $. First we need to find out who is actually making or importing the knife, then we start punching. We have a big fist and haven't lost any infringment cases yet, but they keep coming up. General maintenance like spraying for bugs. It's always ongoing.

Dear Sal;
There is, however, Big Government
in the form of the Federal Trade Commission ( for those annoying, domestic
violator(s)). The REAL challenge is in
legal remedy ( and $$$$; sorry I over looked that!) against the foreign "rip offs". Just to let you know, I just
got my C 28BK "Dragonfly" in the mail &
will continue to be an avid supporter
of those knives Spyderco. Hope the other forumites don't stray.
Spydies; the next best thing to ( outdated ) switchblades.

Just my 2 cents worth

Sincerely,

A.E.T.
