I haven't brought this up for quite a while, but the Manix(or maybe the Mini Manix for that matter) would be absolutely perfect if it came FULLY SERRATED

My Stretch has inlays of sperm whale (cachalot) tooth
I like the feeling of natural material so much better than high tech syntetic.

Big Calypso C-54 w/ ZDP-189

#47

Post by JD Spydo »

[quote="224477"]Simple answer for me:

C54 with Ti lined CF handle and ZDP 189 blade (san mai or solid depending on whats really better)

:D

I hope noone was expecting another answer from me ]

I couldn't agree more. With the Calypso Jr getting a ZDP-189 blade it only stands to reason that the big Calypso should have one too. I have often said that to make the big Calypso (C-54) along with the Calypso Jr. (C-52) both with ZDP-189 blades and CF or Micarta handles would make a superb gift set for this upcoming holiday season in about 4 months.

The Big Calypso is probaby the very best "OverShadowed Spyder" of all time. During it's production ( which was a very short tenure) it was overshadowed by so many popular blades at that time that it never really got any traction while in the production line up. If I had a list of comeback candidates for ZDP-189 and a better handle the big Calypso would be in the top 5 and maybe even #1 at that.

This is a slam dunk. I haven't talked to anyone here in Spyderville who dislikes the C-54 big Calypso>>> Great pick
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!
