I had my heart set on getting a Wegner Jr. after all the great comments I've read on the forum. Well, after an exhaustive search on the web, I have not been able to find one, even though many sites say they have it. As everyone knows, it has been discontinued.
I'd be interested to know what you recommend that I purchase in about the same size range as the Wegner Jr. I recently purchased the Wegner Mouse and just love the VG-10 steel so I'd prefer that the knife have this steel or very similar steel. Any assistance is much appreciated.
Need Help With Knife Selection
Hello cm, welcome to the forum.
The first knife that pops into my mind is the Native, but it may be a bit smaller than the Wegner Jr. I have the large Wegner also, and feel one could hardly go wrong with that. It is not a small knife, but it isn't huge like so many others.
I like the Native FRN for its versatility and the great blade steel it has. Plus, it is fully ambidextrous, so I always carry it on my left side.
The "Lynx" a prototype which is supposed to be out fairly soon -- with a different name -- is shaped much like the Wegner, only a bit smaller.
I wish I knew more about the Rookie and the Standard. They might be exactly what you're looking for.
You could try going to Blade Forums and check in the sales forum for folders to see if anyone is selling the Wegner Jr. There also is a forum there where you can let people know you're interested in buying a particular knife. There also is another Spyderco forum there, which Sal also moderates.
Good luck in your search or decision.

Thanks Stare for the information and I appreciate the welcome you gave me to the forum.
Actually after looking through Spyderco's catalog and searching through the forum, I decided on purchasing the Howard Viele (I just couldn't wait) Although it has a longer blade than the Wegner Jr. there have been very good reviews of this knife posted in the forum and it does have the VG-10 steel which I have liked in the Wegner Mouse. I also like the smooth styling of this knife and since it only weighs 3.8 ounces, it should be a good daily carry knife. I'll post a review after I receive it in about 10 days.
