Ronin modification

#1

Post by Jim Malone »

I modified my Ronin to suit my preferences more.
I rounded the edges, cut of the loop off, enlarged the fingerhole in the sheath, and attached a static line to the sheath.

Anyone with other mod's?

I've got no mods Jim but would love to see your modified Ronin, sheath-less!

Brian,

I think Jim's mods were to the sheath only(?) as it appears the knife remains unmodified. I could have misunderstood Jim and if so please diregard my comment above. The sheath does not resemble mine and makes me think this is an aftermarket version or homemade. Nice job either way. BTW, my sheath, which I think is the standard :spyder: variety has no sharp edges and follows the contour of the blade. I really like mine (the sheath & blade) just the way she is. :)

all the best

Nope, its a modified origional Ronin sheath. Due to the overly large design I had to delete some of the carry options (neck carry) and open up the finger hole in the sheath.
Can you please post a picture of your sheath. The reason for the mod in the first place is the fact that the sheath was too cumbersome.

thx
Namaste

Hi Jim, you modified one of the original sheaths. It was so wide so it would stabilize and remain flat while carrying as a neck knife. It also was huge many folks complained so they came out with a new sheath. The new sheath follows the outline of the knife with approx 1/2 inch of kydex all around the blade. I'll post a pick when I get home (approx 7 hours) if no one posts by then.

I doubt it, but I believe they used a supplier in Colorado for their second sheath, I remember reading about a link a few months ago, but have no idea what words I'd use to search for it.

Jim,

Wow, I'm almost embarrassed to post my pictures after Zen's but here goes. I wasn't able to upload these pictures directly into the forum so please follow the link if you're interested. You may find my Ronin pictures at http://homepage.mac.com/hornshwangler/K ... lbum6.html.

Zen, great picture of you're Ronin family. I'm very impressed. This is a great little knife that begs to be carried more! Thanks.

Dan

ps. the new sheath includes a kydex tek lock on the back.
