Spyderco SAMARITAN - a photo

#1

Post by Franco G »

I just find at the Blade Forums a link with a photo of the Samaritan auto displayed at the Blade2006. Since the photo became publc, I hope this thread does not break the NO PHOTO rule.
Enjoy,

Franco

Interesting, design is close to Military, UKPK and something. I would like to know how it works. Dual action shall be a kind of asisted opening?

Thanks for the link. Always nice to see pics and listen stories from knifeshows :)

Dual action means that you can open it with the button (automatic), or you can thumb it open with the hole. Nice thing about double action autos is that it allows a more PC opening of the knife. So if you're at the office you can still thumb open your knife to open a box, instead of getting the hard-core "you're dangerous and crazy" looks when you snap open a switch-blade around your co-workers.

Interesting name. I wonder why they didn't call it something like NinjaDeathSlasher3000 ;) :D

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

That is because the name has a copy right and is owned by Chuck Norris!!!

That is a very nice looking knife and its dual action! :D

That one is definitely on my list of things to get. I wonder when it will be out?

Franco G, thanks for sharing.

Ted,
Yes, you may. I believe Wouter will also be sharing some of his photographs.

I'm glad you all like what you see. The Samaritan is IMO awesome, it's fun too! I just spent yesterday showing it to some really great folks at Quantico.

Thanks Kristi! - Blade looks great. I wouldn't mind a manual-only version also :)

So you push the button, then rotate the scale?

Hi Ritt,

yes. The button / scale release combination is for safety. Both must be used at the same time. It is simple and user friendly but greatly reduces the possibility of accedental opening.
