New Fred Perrin Fixed Blade! hot Hot hot !!!

#1

Post by Nemo3000 »

Bonjour,

i'm back from the Eurosatory 2006 in Northern Paris where Olive and Jur just display the new Fred Perrin FB.
A pre production knife. But imagine this.
3,5 inches of the same street bowie VG 10 flat ground blade.
A full tang with soft micarta handle.
BEAUTIFUL !!!

Everyone who stop there asked first about that little FB !

Sure Fred "made his homeworks" and release with the Spyderteam a very serious keeny beauty !
I'll be there back some time this week. And I don't know if I will be allowed to picture it for you.
Also I need to see the sheath. (Should be also great!)

Keep an eye on that new fixed blade, it's going to be super hot !

Cheers

PERRIN?????? Spyderco???

#2

Post by JD Spydo »

Is it another Spyderco PERRIN model you are referring to or is it just one of Fred Perrin's custom model prototypes?

I have a Spyderco Perrin and I have wanted to get rid of it or put it up for trade a couple of times but something deep inside of me tells me to keep it. The more I play with it the more it grows on me as a lot of other Spyders have done over the past 5 years.

Also Fred Perrin has done some great stuff in collaboration with Laci Szabo ( designer of the SzaboFly) who is one of my favorite knife designers. Perrin's name does indeed demand respect.

Sounds like the Perrin "Street Beat" Prototype that we saw images of from the Amsterdam "Show"

Me too. The only reason I didn't get the first Perrin was the blade length. I am limited to under 4" by law. This sounds about perfect. Any idea on when we may see these?

Do you have any idea as to blade length, blade shape, estimated price and release date? I know pics were on the other thread but the item in question didn't come up for me.

Along with the new Perrin, I see Median has published a new song on their AcidPlanet site. It's all great!

Thank you everyone.
Unfortunatly I have not been able to meet Fred for almost two years now, and I doubt, we will ever do any reviews again...as both of us are following very different paths. but I'm heading forward to meeting him around a Spydie boot...

On the other hand meeting people from Golden happend now twice a year and my wife, by a strange luck, is working for a company at 10 minutes from the Spyderco Drive in Colorado...

Eventually,
I've been lurking around and seen many Fred Perrin designs photo on the Net. But the Street Beat is IMHO a "Dream Coming true" of a small FB.
I'm very happy for him !

Cheers

I love my Street Beat! Now that I think of it, I actually got a Street Beat Spyderbite yesterday. :D

So, Nemo, how's Fred like in real life?
