Jester or Starling?

Jester or Starling?

I can't choose between Jester and Starling, which do you suggest me?

Honestly, I'm not very excited to buy a Chinese knife, but the Starling looks good and, if I'm not in error, the steel is better than AUS-6.
What can you tell me about the quality of this knife?

hello dani, while I've never handled a Starling I like the Byrd steel very much....to me the 8Cr13MoV is harder than my Salsa's Aus8 (when sharpening on my 204Sharpmaker) and the Aus6 in even "softer"! I have a SS Jester and a Micarta Jester which I love very much (ergonomics are excellent) but given the choice b/w Aus6 and the 8cr13MoV.....I'd have to vote for the Starling (or even a Finch)! :rolleyes: :cool:

I guess you don't mean the Jester SS, but the Jester in FRN. Am I right?

I know the Jester & Starling and must say I like the handling of the Jester more. But on the other side the price/quality of the Starling is very attractive.
So in truth, I can't say :o (let your feeling and your "heart" speak).

Jester, for the extra $10 you get a better knife. (Judging from the two Starlings and numerous Jesters I've handled).

Searching informations I read there will be a new Jester in VG-10, is the release programmed for this year?

Have you looked at the Byrd Finch? Very small, but well built and sharp! A nice alternative to the Jester (although it comes in SS only I believe).

It's nice, but I thought to the others two models because of the handle in FRN and the cutting edge a little longer.

I would give another question:

Jester and Starling?

I mean both are great, catch both, you have two bunch of keys for sure :D

At the end I ordered the Jester altought the steel is not so good. Perhaps Chinese knife are not for me...

I hope to see soon a new Jester with VG-10. :cool:
