Cartoons are Good for your Sanity!!!

#1

Post by uhiforgot »

...And I truly DO believe that! I am 23 years old and still watch some of the same cartoons I did when I was a kid, and it still brings me that same great joy!

One of my coworkers found a link yesterday to some youtube playlists of a BUNCH of different cartoons with complete sketches. Among the rarest (that I can think of) in this collection are the Chuck Norris cartoon, Felix The Cat, Mr. T, Snorks, and Thundercats!

Personally I was EXSTATIC at the fact that I was able to watch Animaniacs again!!! I don't think I've laughed that hard since before they were cancelled (still can't figure out why they were cancelled  )... but this should hold me over until season one is released on DVD sometime later this year, or whenever it is.

Anyway, here's the link, and enjoy!

At one time I would leave work early to be home in time to see Animaniacs!

I have the "Pinky and the Brain" theme song as one of the ring tones on my cell phone. It used when one of my bosses calls me.

One is brilliant, but extraordinarily evil, one is a complete moron, so I feel it suits them well. :p

I loved Animaniacs :D

Heck I love cartoons in general  But only the older stuff, some of the thigns coming out today are just crap.

Thats awesome Jeff. Thanks for the link. FYI - the Animanics is coming to DVD at some point I heard, not sure though. It's one of the greatest cartoons ever made. I'll have to check out the link when I get home. A Chuck Norris cartoon - interesting, I'll have to check that one out.

Just about all I watch is cartoons, everything else is too depressing.

My all time favorite is "Disney's The Gummi Bears". I wish they would release the run on DVD, or put it back in syndication.

Gummi Bears... bouncing here and there and everywhere... high adventures beyond compare...

Another excellent cartoon Axlis.

I saw Danger Mouse box sets at the local record shop. That was another really cool cartoon.

One of my current favorites is Justice League Unlimited. Pretty good storytelling, and the animation keeps getting better with each season. I'm also a big fan of the Batman Animated Series and The Tick.

I wish they'd bring Animaniacs and Freakazoid out on DVD already..I'm starting to turn blue from holding my breath..

Yeah, cartoons can definetly help your sanity! I feel a personal conection with wyle e. coyote. He just keeps his eye on the prize, never gives up, and gets beat every time! Poor guy. I think he's one of the great role models of all time! :D Love donald duck for prety much the same reasons- he starts out minding his own buisness and having a great time, but life just wont leave him alone! Sound like real life to me. ;) Definetly a pick me up to watch these guys when life's got me down.

I'm an old fart and I still love cartoons. I especially love the Duck Dodgers series and KND - you must be a grown up to fully appreciate them, with all the refferences to cult movies (like Star Wars, Aliens, James Bond aso.) :)

Oh man somehow I lucked out and missed the Chuck Norris cartoon as a kid. I saw my first episode just the other day. Man oh man, where is the barfing emote? It has to be in the top ten for worst cartoons ever.

How right you are! I have several videos of the older Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote cartoons and they are fantastic! You remember, before all of the cartoon violence and such was removed making them most UNfunny?

LOL!

I loved "Pinky and Brain", watched them at ORF (Austrian channel) as I came back from school, every afternoon "a couple of years" back.... :D

I cant get enough of Simpsons, thats a pure classic for me, although I was never able to remember Homers talks LOL!

But I dunno why, the South Park never caught me, watched it a couple of times, but found nothing with "soul" inside...

Looney Toons weren't so looney~ reality is my problem

I was wondering if this topic would ever come up. I still watch Woody Woodpecker, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn & Speedy Gonzales anytime I have the oportunity. Sanity keepers they are indeed. Oh yes Cartoons are much more healthy than these junk sitcoms, pro sports or most modern movies.

The Looney Toons characters are at the top of my list. One of the older Cartoons I haven't seen in years but was hilariously funny was Deputy Dog.
Tom & Jerry was a real hoot too. I grew up on Popeye the Sailor.

Bugs Bunny was the one I always envied because no matter what horrendous situation he was in he not only got out of it but was able to keep his total cool during the heat of the situation he was in. Him and Daffy Duck had a lot of classic confrontations. I also used to like the way Daffy Duck would always manipulate Elmer Fudd. I long for those days

I have recently rediscovered just how cool the older Tom and Jerry cartoons were, absolutely brilliant!

I watch Adult Swim every night, The Family Guy rules! Robot Chicken is great too, and I love the fact that they show Anime.

The way I see it, the only good cartoons are the ones that come on late at night. What little that is left for Saturday morning just makes me gag! They've taken out the violence(read action!), over censored, and made them so politically correct and sterile to the point that kids have nothing to grow on anymore :( .

Dr. Lecter,

Funny you should mention the violence being removed from older cartoons..I was watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon from way back, when I realized that they had changed the old housekeeper's skin color and voice. No longer was she an African American woman with the stereotypical "mammy" voice, but now she was Caucasian with no accent in her voice at all.

I also noticed that I never see the WW II era Daffy and Bugs Bunny cartoons that made fun of the Nazis and Japanese anymore.

Cartoons are great. They are some of the best stuff on TV if you ask me. Right now I have the complete collection of Spiderman (90's), X-Men (90's), and Freakazoid on DVD. I also have seasons 1 & 2 of family guy, Season 1 of Justice League, Seasons 5 & 6 of South Park, and I plan on getting the complete animated series of Batman soon (which is my favorite of them all). My Dad has Rocky & Bullwinkle on DVD which is a funny cartoon. One thing I'd really like to find on DVD is those old Chip & Dale cartoons that use to come on that usually had Donald Duck in them (those were great). Speaking of X-Men I can't wait until tomorrow when The Last Stand comes out in the movie theaters.

uhiforgot, I seen one complete season (can't remember which) of Thundercats on DVD the last time I was at Wal-Mart.

I was watching Tom and Jerry today and in one of the episodes, the owner was a black woman with the stereotypical voice. I would guess you saw a later cartoon.

Did any of you watch Rocko's Modern Life? I never knew how many innuendo's were in that show.
